ABOUT THE ROLE

The Transparency International Secretariat is currently seeking a Project Manager to join the Projects Team, to manage TI’s AC4ALL Project. In particular, the Project Manager will be responsible for overall project co­ordination, monitoring, evaluation and learning, narrative and financial reporting to the donor, as well as supporting know­ledge sharing and advocacy related to the project and in the region.

The Anti-Corruption for ALL (AC4ALL): Redirecting anticorruption efforts to reduce inequality through fiscal and budgetary reforms and practices in Mexico Project aims to reduce inequality for those most left behind in Mexico, particularly, women, youth and ethnic minorities through fair and transparent redistributive policies and new forms of civic engagement. The project will be implemented jointly by the TI Secretariat and TI Mexico. Recognising that illicit financial flows and transnational ele­ments undermine efforts to promote sustainable development and to reduce inequality, the Action includes a series of initia­tives at regional and global levels, led by the Secretariat, that will complement and support the work carried out domestically by TI Mexico.

OVERVIEW OF KEY DIMENSIONS

Role Purpose: The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring smooth implementation of TI’s project: Anti-corruption for the many, not for the few (AC4ALL); coordinating the work flow, financial and administrative management of the project and ensuring that agreed goals, best practice standards, donor obligations and TI-S regulations are met relating to project implementation by TI-S and partners; and disseminating learning about the project at regional level.

Reporting Line: Head of Projects (with a dotted line in TI-S’ matrix system to the Global Movement Team)

Salary Band: salary according to TI-S internal salary structure; for this position corresponding to band PF2 a salary starting EUR 40,000.00 gross per year depending on relevant experience

Starting Date: 1 March 2022 / as soon as possible

Contract Duration: Until 28 February 2026, corresponding to the duration of the project with funding currently confirmed.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

Based in the Projects Team and reporting to the Head of Projects in close association with the Global Movement Team, the Project Manager, Anti-corruption For All Project will:

  • Coordinate day-to-day project implementation of the Anti-corruption For All Project, including activity planning, budget management, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring that all phases are consistent with the design and delivery schedule and internal processes and procedures, and striving for high-quality outputs and the greatest possible impact of project activities
  • Coordinate the preparation of all project management tools (project calendar, workflows, team collaboration plans, documentation and MEL) together with relevant colleagues in other TI-S teams including Global Movement, Policy and Advocacy, and Research and Knowledge
  • Work in close collaboration and ensure ongoing communication with TI Mexico to support implementation of the project, particularly in efforts to monitor and evaluate project impact, plan advocacy interventions and communication/outreach activities, and share knowledge and experience across activities
  • Coordinate the organisation of institutional meetings and events as per the project calendar, and ensure the timely and cost-effective execution of project activities and the organisation of related events
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Finance team to build accurate financial forecasts, including reviewing financial reports and identifying in advance areas of over- or under-spending, and flagging any urgent budgetary issues
  • Ensure work deliverables meet quality standards and proactively seek input from relevant internal experts as needed
  • Under the lead of the regional advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean, collaborate on capacity building, network management and regional advocacy efforts related directly or indirectly to the project.
  • Stay abreast of developments and support regional activities as agreed with the regional advisor when relevant, responding to on-demand needs by adapting work plans if necessary
  • Represent the project/organization at relevant fora as needed; build relationships and form alliances with external counterparts, communities of practice and stakeholders; contribute to external communications and media work as needed
  • Generate ideas and develop concept notes/proposals that are aligned with organisational priorities
  • Contribute to the overall functioning of the Regional and Global Programmes Team by providing proactive and ad hoc support where necessary

CANDIDATE PROFILE

In order to succeed in this role, candidates will need to meet the following:

  • University degree in public policy, international affairs/relations, business administration, management, social science, public administration, economics, or another relevant field; a recognised project management certification is highly valued and a clear advantage
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably with an International NGO or International Organisation, with demonstrated in-depth knowledge of project management best practices
  • Knowledge of, or considerable interest in, the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption and inequalities; solid understanding of CSOs in the region and of political realities in Mexico as well as the wider region a strong advantage
  • Experience in managing donor funded projects in the civil society field an advantage
  • Familiarity with donor rules and regulations (in particular the European Commission) a strong advantage
  • Solid understanding of budget/financial management processes (working in collaboration with Project Accountants)
  • Experience in organising major events with diverse international partners, in-person and remote
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and networking skills with the ability to engage multi-stakeholders, make use of prior contacts and networks, stimulate and shape partnerships, networks and coalitions
  • Results orientation, resilience and tenacity with the ability to work under pressure in a collaborative setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Professional language proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Strong interpersonal, team work and intercultural communication skills, particularly at distance communication
  • Commitment to the values and principles of Transparency International
