The Barcelona Institute for Global Health, ISGlobal, is an innovative alliance between academic, government, and philanthropic institutions to contribute to the efforts undertaken by the international community to address the challenges in global health, through research, translation to policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in three main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Child and Maternal Health, and Urban Health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases. ISGlobal is the first global public health centre to have received the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

What We Are Looking for

ISGlobal is looking for a motivated Project Manager experienced in European Union grants for the RECETAS project. The Re-imagining Environments for Connection and Engagement: Testing Actions for Social Prescribing in Natural Spaces project (RECETAS) project funded through the EU Horizon 2020 research programme (grant agreement 945095). Led by ISGlobal, RECETAS is exploring the impact of nature-based social prescribing to alleviate loneliness and improve health-related quality of life. The intervention is currently under evaluation, including the use of randomized controlled trials and cost effectiveness studies, to measure impact. RECETAS is being implemented in 6 countries globally, and the consortium includes 13 partners from Europe, Latin America and Australia.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be responsible for all administrative and financial management aspects of the RECETAS project. The Project Manager will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other consortium members to ensure successful execution of the project and compliance with the EU funding requirements. This includes tasks related to the daily functioning of the Project Consortium, coordinating communication among partners and other stakeholders, organization of meetings, events and supporting documentation as required, document management, monitoring and reporting of milestones and budget and preparation of scientific and financial reports internally and for the EU. The PM will also support aspects of the European Urban Health Cluster activities that link the RECETAS project with five other funded initiatives exploring various aspects of urban health in the EU on topics including data protection, communication and dissemination, and citizen science.

Specific Duties

1.Program Implementation, Monitoring and Management Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the H2020 EU portal and update as needed
  • Prepare and Track project deliverables and milestones
  • Set agendas for team meetings, ensure follow-up of key actions, and write reports/notes/minutes
  • Delegate specific tasks as appropriate
  • Monitor action steps and ensure timely decision-making
  • Compile and complete scientific and financial reporting required by the EU

2.Coordination of the Consortium:

  • Manage the communication related to the all aspects of the project and serve as key link for internal and external communication
  • Assist in dissemination activities for project partners and external stakeholders
  • Liaise with EU project officer for administrative aspects
  • Organize regular meetings, prepare and circulate minutes
  • Organize and manage the project documentation on the project shared Google Drive and Slack Channels
  • Monitor contractual agreements
  • Assist in the organization of annual consortium meetings and other project events

3. Budget:

  • Oversee all financial aspects of the project, monitor budgets and contracts, and liaise with fiscal agents of each RECETAS partner to ensure fiscal health of the project
  • Ensure compliance with EU guidelines by consortium members
  • Detailed management of the ISGlobal budget for the project

Competencies

1. Essential:

  • University degree in health sciences, management, epidemiology, social work, communications or similar
  • At least 2 years of project management experience
  • Experiencing managing European-funded or other related projects
  • Excellent management, project planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent command of the English language and Spanish, other languages a plus
  • Excellent computer skills: Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Slack, Videoconferences, Polling software
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently
  • Experience working in international environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

2. Desirable:

  • Knowledge of public health research
  • Experience in training and supervising staff
  • To have a genuine interest in building strong partnerships and engaging in emerging scientific discoveries and communicating and disseminating research for practice purposes
  • Bring an approach to project that is optimistic and curious

Language level

  • Fluency in spoke and written English is required. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable.

Conditions

  • Duration: 2 years, half time
  • Starting date: February 2024
  • Salary according to the candidate profile and project budget
