ABOUT THE ROLE

Common Goal is establishing a centre of expertise in sustainable sports spaces built on the following pillars: sustainability, equitable & inclusive access, community engagement & ownership, local networking & relationship building, football for good programming, and social & economic growth. As our Infrastructure Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of community football infrastructure projects around the world.

The role will require someone who possesses the technical expertise in building sports and community facilities and who can combine a passion for sustainability and community. Beyond having a strong understanding of sustainable infrastructure, we are looking for an individual who is able to integrate environmental and social dimensions in designing and managing projects, who thrives under pressure, and someone who is driven by their passion to do good.

YOUR TASKS

  • You lead our infrastructure aspirations in developing our strategy on inclusive and equitable access to public, sports, and play spaces delivered to and run by the Common Goal community.
  • You implement a participatory approach that includes community actors around the space ensured.
  • You manage three central components: infrastructure, coordination of the construction project, and programme implementation after pitch delivery, with main focus on infrastructure aspect.
  • You support identifying community actors and project locations for upcoming projects.
  • You build and maintain partnerships with community infrastructure experts and local community organisations to ensure engagement and sustainability.
  • You coordinate multiple stakeholders for each project and maintain excellent information flows with project partners.
  • If needed, you support procurement processes, contract negotiations, compilation of documentation for the construction process and the selection and monitoring of subcontractors and service providers.
  • You establish and maintain construction timelines and project plans for each location and monitor the effective and timely completion of the construction.
  • You implement guidelines and concepts for the proper maintenance and sustainability of facilities and ensure the necessary training of local staff.
  • You manage the creation of application documents, project reporting, and evaluation.
  • You manage the monitoring and evaluation of ongoing Football for Good programming on the existing projects.

YOUR PROFILE

  • You have a degree in business and/or public administration, civil engineering, urban planning, international development or related fields; sound technical understanding of sports infrastructure is a plus.
  • You have at least six years of professional experience in project management (e.g. infrastructure or comparable projects), ideally in the field of social and international development.
  • You are familiar with creating databases, spreadsheets, presentations and the use of project management tools and apps. Ideally you have a project management certificate (e.g. PMP).
  • You are fluent in English. Additional languages (such as Spanish, Turkish) are a plus.
  • You are willing and able to travel regularly – if possible.
  • Ideally you are able to join the team in Berlin.
