Part of our work focusses on supporting cash transfer programmes to promote school enrolment. We have specialised in building digital tools that can monitor school attendance as well as support cash transfers.

We are part of Corus International, a worldwide organisation that aims to help reduce poverty and support human development in fragile contexts.

About the role

We are looking for a consultant with Cash Transfer experience to manage one of our sub-Saharan digital cash transfers programmes led by partners in the education sector. The goal of the project is to build a digital system that can monitor girls school attendance and support cash transfer to targeted beneficiaries.

In this role:

  • You will liaise with stakeholders, including Financial Service Providers, to gather user requirements and advise on the digital tools’ specifications to ensure it can track attendance and deliver transfers efficiently
  • You will coordinate with the team of software developers to design a tool that meets the clients and programmes’ needs
  • You will test the digital tool to ensure it meets quality acceptance criteria
  • You will set up a pilot to test the digital tool
  • You will coordinate the deployment of the digital tool

As Project Manager – Cash Specialist, you will act as the focal point for the client and implement partners. You will also act as the project manager and coordinate internally with the technical team and business analysts to ensure the project outputs meet quality standards and deadlines are met.

Skills and knowledge

  • French speaking – You will be fluent in French
  • Team leadership – You will have strong managerial and team building skills as you coordinate a small team of both IT (2) and implementation (1) staff. Within the broader programme, you will liaise with implementing partners to ensure alignment and robust field feedback loops
  • Technical oversight – You will have excellent knowledge of cash transfers programmes to ensure the digital tools fit the needs of the programme. You will have demonstrable ability to analyse requirements and propose workable solutions. This will require high attention to detail
  • Time management – You will have excellent organisational skills to work under pressure and manage multiple time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Strategic oversight – You will support strategic discussions around broader data visibility for local and national-level decision-makers; you must be able to coordinate with a range of programmatic personnel, governmental counterparts, and UN/NGO stakeholders confidently and efficiently
  • Communication –You will have strong communication and client liaison skills. You will be expected to conduct training and high-level workshop/report presentations. You will need strong writing skills with the ability to generate timely reports for a range of audiences

Experience

  • Masters or Postgraduate degree in international development, education (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years’ project management experience in Cash programmes
  • Fluency in French and English is imperative
  • Experience with data collection tool/MIS development desired
  • Familiarity with basic Tech4Dev approaches and processes
  • Experience travelling to fragile/remote areas
  • Familiarity working in francophone West Africa desirable
  • Experience in the international humanitarian sector

Location

Remote with regular travel to fragile and conflict affected countries, including Mali.

Contract Arrangements

Part time consultancy contract for a period of one year.
