These challenges need the bold research our funding supports, but they won’t be solved by science alone. We are looking for Project Manager.

Facilities & Workplace comprises a small team dedicated to the provision of high standard services and projects within Wellcome’s London buildings. All core services, i.e. Engineering, Cleaning, Security, FoH and Catering are provided by outsourced business partners. The Building Manager role is pivotal within the team structure by acting as the single point of contact for all operational issues within the building on a day to day basis.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of agreed F&W projects in Wellcome’s operational buildings. This includes projects associated to M&E, building fabric, F&W, Facilities business systems and workplace and department development, to join the team for a 12 months contract.

In this role you will

  • Be responsible for the delivery of F&W projects ensuring that all works meet Wellcome’s requirements and standards. Ensure compliance with Wellcome’s health and safety processes, all statutory/mandatory requirements, including: Building Regulations, site review, CDM, method statements, risk assessments and site inspections.

  • Prepare relevant information for the project business case, development and design briefs. Prepare and deliver written periodic F&W project reports relating to feasibility, risks, project plan, proposals, progress, and forecasting. Contribute to risk registers and subsequent management of the agreed mitigation/management strategy.

  • Tender and procure F&W consultants, contractors and equipment services to agreed project plan and Wellcome’s procurement procedures and processes.

  • Monitor and report periodically on budgets and cash flow to ensure project costs are kept within budget and best value is achieved to the business case or better.

  • Analyse performance of F&W contractors, consultants and suppliers and identify alternative strategies where appropriate.

  • Project close out including client sign off and facilitating lessons learnt workshops and recommendations for future project management.

  • Keep up to date with developments in legislation and innovation in the wider field of building and facilities management. Close liaison with the M&E and Security teams.

  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Experience following the APM project methodology as defined by Wellcome.

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of current Health & Safety requirements including Construction Design and Management, H&SaWA, Statutory Compliance etc. Commercial experience with strong business acumen, including preparation,management and control of budgets.

  • Experience of writing business/management reports including business cases and strategic papers.

  • Experience of engaging, negotiating with and influencing decision makers within an organisation. Procurement, tendering and commercial experience.

  • Strong administrative, organisational and communication skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deal with multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and able to operate independently under broad direction.

Although Wellcome is currently doing 2 days a week in the office, this role due to its nature would require you to be in the office.

Salary: £50,000
