The Primary Care Group within NHS England and NHS Improvement is looking for talented, diverse, highly motivated people to work in the GP Contracts team. The role of the Primary Care Group is to lead the development of national strategy, contractual arrangements and delivery models for primary care services across England, covering General Practice, Community Pharmacy, Dentistry and Optometry.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an existing and diverse team. The role will focus on Primary Care Networks (PCNs) as part of the team responsible for developing the strategy and contractual arrangement for supporting PCNs.

We work closely with a wide range of stakeholders on order to help achieve our ambitious programme of work that will help inform conversations towards improving the health of populations, the experience of people using services and the use of resources.

Primary Care Networks and GP contracts team within Primary Care

We are looking for a Project Manager

As a Project Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team to deliver an effective service supporting managers and staff to develop policy and work with lead local sites to help deliver policy and strategy for contractual arrangements and delivery models for primary care services.

It is envisaged that the post holder’s work will be within the GP and PCN Contracts Team, contributing to the development of strategy, policy and contractual arrangements for Primary Care Networks and general practice. Applications from individuals with expertise in development of national policy are particularly encouraged. Knowledge and experience of health care policy design and contracting/commissioning arrangements for general practice may be helpful but not essential.

  • Programme management: knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools, experience of managing risks and reporting
  • Stakeholder management:Building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, able to produce communications for dissemination to stakeholders.
  • Written communication: researching and drafting documents, reports, drafting correspondence and communications products including for websites, bulletins, presentations, etc.
  • Planning & Organising: business planning, budget managment; management of project and programme secretariat

In addition, the post holder may be asked to undertake any other reasonable duties required. It should be noted that as programmes are evolving portfolios may be subject to change over time as the work develops. This job description will therefore allow full flexibility for the post holder to lead priority projects in an evolving way, across the directorate.
