What does a day in the life of a Project Manager look like?

As the person in charge of the delivery of projects, you will chair team meetings to breakdown the work between your different collaborators. You will prepare the presentation for the Steering Committee to review the project progress and document the decisions that needs to be taken. You will write or review the deliverables of the project. Some of those deliverables may need additional expertise or contribution from the different departments or outside of the organization. You will get in touch with them and coordinate the discussions or workshops needed. On a regular basis, you will review and updated your project budget together with our financial controller.

Depending on the project you are working on, some days you will be working together with all departments including our staff in the field to run interviews, collect information coordinate a training or other tasks needed to contribute to the project objectives. The next day you might contribute to the development of our PMO methodologies or project management framework. This is a role where you can work on various different topics and proactivity is key!

Main Objectives

  • Utilize, apply and adapt different Project Management tools & techniques to OCA environment.
  • Support and advise MSF with contract management of external delivery partners.
  • Facilitate executive decision-making. Report to Project Sponsor and Steering Committee.
  • Track project risks & issues and lead solutions and mitigation efforts.
  • Assure project deliverables meet agreed quality standards.
  • Guide and support the change process in the organization.
  • Maintain a solid project administration and reporting.
  • Ensure business process integration related to the project scope.
  • Responsible for Project Budget.
  • Ensures coherence and good collaboration within the project team and alignment of the different collaborators and departments.
  • Coordinate team activities of a cross functional project team located in different geographical areas and external suppliers or other MSF entities.
  • Act as Organizational and Change lead for the project.
  • Plan and coordinate project- internal communication and change management activities.
  • Contribute to coordinating of end-user support and handover to the standing organization.
  • Implement project evaluation and contribute to growth of MSF project management proficiency.

Your profile

Project management

  • Proven experience in initiating, leading and running projects and change processes;
  • Solution oriented, capable of crafting project business cases within the framework of MSF policies;
  • Ability to adapt to change and successfully lead different collaborator’s expectations;
  • Able to deliver in an international and multi-cultural environment;
  • Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and proven communication skills both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management;
  • Adaptation and application of different Project Management tools & techniques to OCA environment;
  • Project Management Certification preferred; experience with a variety of project; management methodologies, including agile ones (SCRUM, design thinking etc.) is a strong asset.

Team

  • Select resources and build project teams across functions;
  • Lead, empower and coordinate project teams to achieving the goals of a given project;
  • Advocate of growing efficiency of team efforts by minimizing redundancy and effective time management.

IT & other skills

  • IT savvy of advantage;
  • Virtual collaboration capabilities;
  • Change management knowledge is an asset;
  • Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio);
  • Fluency in English is required, good written and oral communication skills. Any additional language a plus.

  • Willingness to travel to other MSF offices and country programs.

Should you be based in the Netherlands, a Dutch contract with a gross monthly salary in scale 7 with a current salary range between 3,638- and 5,195-euro gross per month depending on relevant work experience, based on a full-time appointment.

This role may be performed remotely, and we are open to locations where MSF-OCA have a presence with a preference for The Netherlands, Jordan, Kenya, England, Germany. For candidates residing outside of the Netherlands, a local contract and salary grid will apply.
