The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Project Management Advisor to provide strategic support, advice and partnership across GAIN’s country programmes and projects, whilst leading and facilitating initiatives to strengthen our international project portfolio. This is an open position to be based in either the GAIN London or Kenya office.

About GAIN

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of the Country Programmes Team, the Project Management Advisor will work closely with country offices and other technical services teams to conceptualize, design and deliver programmes and projects across our GAIN’s portfolio work. They will lead the ongoing development and improvement of our project management processes, procedures and tools, as the custodian of the GAIN Project Management Guidelines (PMG).

The post-holder will be expected to quickly develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and they will be responsible for influencing and reconciling stakeholders’ interests to ensure effective Project design and delivery across GAIN.

Key specifics include:

  • Leading and facilitating the design and conceptualization of projects using the GAIN Project Management framework
  • Facilitating discussions and relationships between GAIN countries and technical services teams
  • Building a culture of co-creation in the way GAIN designs and delivers projects globally
  • Supporting with the day-to-day project implementation focusing on key areas agreed with the Country Programme Team (CPT) Leadership
  • Overseeing and facilitating the transition from concept and design to a full proposal package including the selection of key personnel, budget alignment, and workplans
  • Working closely with the Project Oversight Committee and project sponsors to find solutions in areas which require specialist input and support
  • Acting as the CPT point of contact for resource mobilisation efforts, providing technical project design advice on proposals
  • Developing and leading on knowledge management and capacity building efforts including developing the in-house training program
  • Building and maintaining a global community of practice or equivalent network that can support project managers through support, mentoring, coaching etc
  • Performing other duties as maybe reasonably required and in line with the job post

About You

You will have substantial experience in large scale programme & project management with proven experience in programme and project design in the global health and international development sector.

You will possess excellent leadership skills and will be well versed in leading project / programme management staff and multi-disciplinary teams on projects. You will also have experience in capacity building through designing and facilitating staff trainings.

In addition to this, you will have strong stakeholder and relationship management skills with the ability to influence others at a high level, internally as well as externally. You will have the ability to work in a decentralized matrix-style and multi-cultural organization.

Knowledge base in nutrition and food industry is an advantage. Prior experience working within a donor-funded environment and of donor reporting is an advantage.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is as follows:

Nairobi, Kenya – 4,058,496 – 4,639,992 KES per annum (depending on experience).
London, United Kingdom – 47,438 – 50,844 GBP per annum (depending on experience).

GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for annual progression subject to good performance.
