THE ROLE: Project Health Officer

Save the Children is recruiting an experience Project Health Officer that will support the government efforts in healthcare system strengthening especially with a focus on RMNCAH + FP services at the district level. S/he will represent the project at district level forums, meetings and consultations on policy and technical issues related to the project’s objectives. S/he will work closely with DHMT and health providers to utilize quality improvement tools to strengthen essential RMNACH+FP services. S/he will ensure the regular monitoring of indicators and coordinate with relevant stakeholders at the district and national level. Momentum Country Global Leadership (MCGL) project is a five-year global project funded by the USAID to provide targeted RMNACH+FP technical and capacity development assistance (TCDA) to countries to facilitate countries’ journeys to self-reliance. MCGL also aims to contribute to global technical leadership and learning, and USAID’s policy dialogue for achievement of global RMNACH+FP goals through support to globally endorsed RMNACH+FP initiatives, strategies, frameworks, guidelines, and action plans.

Additionally, in the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRABLE

  • Minimum of Diploma/Higher Diploma/ BSc in Community Health and Clinical studies, SRN, BSc Public Health, Community Health Officer

Certificates in IMCI, AYFS, IYCF, ETAT is a plus

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • At least 1-2 years working with District Health Management Team

  • Knowledge on quality improvement approaches and tools

  • Strong skills in building a team, training, and on the job mentoring

  • Demonstrable experience working in relatively similar position in an NGO setting.

  • Demonstrable experience of M&E and beneficiary accountability.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels

  • The ability to be flexible and make things work.

  • Familiar with national health registers and DHIS2

Desirable

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • Experience working in urban and rural settings
  • Experience working on a USAID-funded project

CONTRACT LENGTH: 11 Months
