Know our team

Nutrition International’s Program Operations Unit is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of Nutrition International’s core program interventions including program development, design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, and grant management, including setting annual operational planning, budgeting, and review processes. The unit comprises a global team of professionals located in our 10 core countries across Asia, and Africa and our headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. Nutrition International is seeking applications for Senior Project Officer Vitamin A in Chad.

About you

You are someone with a master’s degree from a recognized university in management, international development, public health, nutrition, or related area. Additional post-graduate certification in the project or general management is desirable. A certificate in research and/or monitoring and evaluation is an added advantage. You have at least ten years of experience in the management of programs in public health, nutrition, international development, or a related field. Significant experience managing complex budgets and, diverse teams in progressively more senior leadership roles. At least 5 years of experience in networking at a high level with international partners and country government, is desirable. At least 5 years experience of working in Chad; regional and/or global experience highly desirable; and previous experience as a Country Manager or Director or equivalent role in scope and responsibility for an international organization/NGO highly desirable. You should be fluent in English, French, and local languages in Chad would be an asset.

About the role

In this role you will lead the representation of NI at external meetings in the process of building, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders (including National, State, and Local Governments, private sector, donors, NGOs, academia, and communities), and seek opportunities for collaboration. Enhance the profile of NI and its work in Chad, in the region, and globally. Position NI with stakeholders as a key actor in nutrition and public health, including representation of NI on national (and as needed at international) conferences/fora and playing an active role on national level task forces and alliances. Engage in advocacy both directly and/or in partnership with others, so as to influence Government policies and investments by partners and donors. Coordinate to ensure that NI programming activities are harmonized with those of others and facilitate government leadership and ownership. Identify opportunities for NI to leverage and mobilize additional resources to expand NI’s work and that NI staff (who are based in Chad are kept well informed of progress on NI programs and are appropriately recognized for their support.
