Caritas Switzerland is a leading relief organisation in the field of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Our primary goal is poverty reduction. The International Cooperation (IC) programmes are spread across 15 country organisations and focus on income generation, climate change and migration. The Acquisition Unit is responsible for the financing of IC programmes by bilateral and multilateral donors.

Your duties

  • Lead the conceptual development (theory of change) of selected project proposals, incl. the writing of narrative proposal elements in direct cooperation with the respective country organisation
  • Ensure that project proposals respond to specific donor requirements and provide guidance and recommendations for alignment
  • Structure the content of project proposals to ensure the logic of the argumentation and the coherence of the information
  • Coordinate with internal and external thematic advisors and moderate workshops as part of the project development process
  • Exchange with consortium partners (international / local) during project preparation, e.g. gathering information, coordination of activities
  • Analysis of project development processes and lessons learnt for institutional learning
  • Short-term travel assignments (2-4 per year) to partner countries of Caritas Switzerland to moderate workshops and conduct assessments for proposal development

Our requirements

  • Master’s degree related to international cooperation, communication, or other relevant studies
  • Experience in project design and project management in international cooperation and humanitarian aid abroad
  • Expertise (in theory and practice) in one or more of Caritas Switzerland’s core fields of action: climate change, income, migration
  • In-depth knowledge of actors, contexts and approaches in international cooperation (PCM, M&E, logframe)
  • Very good language skills in English and French (obligatory), language skills in German and other languages are an advantage
  • High level of written communication skills, as well as expertise in writing texts appropriate to different addressees
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work efficiently and accurately under time pressure
  • Readinessfor short-term travel assignments(2-4 per year)to partner countries of Caritas Switzerland

Your place of work will be Lucerne with the option of 50% remote work.
The job will include short work assignments abroad.
Starting date: 01.03.2023 or as agreed upon.
