The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Niamey, Niger.

As Project Coordinator – Triple Nexus you are responsible for the operative implementation of two multi-year projects in Tillabéry and Tahoua. The projects have been designed to meet immediate vulnerable community needs in food security and climatic change, health and nutrition, WASH and economic development while reinforcing community ability to respond to shocks through reinforcement of capacities, group support and innovation. The position will be based in Niamey with regular travel to Tillabéry and Tahoua.

Your responsibilities

  • Carry out the project planning, implementation, monitoring and the project’s financial control
  • Ensure that all project relevant support (monitoring, logistics, finance administration, etc.) is in place
  • Compile job specifications and initiate tendering procedures in line with Welthungerhilfe’s rules and regulations
  • Manage contractors, consultants, staff members and civil society partners engaged in project activities
  • Oversee all components within the project (climate change sensitive food security, Nutrition-Health, WASH and economic development and social cohesion)
  • Ensure the project runs smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time
  • Liaise with local authorities, technical services, INGOs and national NGOs in the project area and represent Welthungerhilfe in relevant fora/clusters at local and national level

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in agriculture, engineering, social sciences or an other relevant subject area
  • A minimum of 3 years of project and management experience in carrying out projects in a transitional context at international scale
  • Broad experience with multisecor projects incl. climate change sensitive food security, Nutrition-Health, WASH and economic development and social cohesion
  • Coordination and organizational skills – even under a high workload in a stressful environment
  • A high level of resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s project countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English and French; German language skills would be an asset
