Contract Duration: March 1st, 2024 – December 15th, 2024 with possibility of extension

Contract type: Daily rate (based on experience), of an average of 10 days a month

About MiCT:

Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) gGmbH is a German media development organization that implements projects in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. MiCT’s activities focus on the interplay between conflict, media coverage and reconciliation.

For the past 12 years MiCT has been conducting investigative reporting training and has produced investigative reports in cooperation with local journalists in Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan & South Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, as well as several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Scope of work:

MiCT’s services comprise the training of journalists and media producers, programme and content development, radio and film production, magazine and book publishing, as well as media research and monitoring in conflict regions.
Through its activities, MiCT aims to foster the transformation of conflict towards reconciliation, and encourage dialogue among conflicting factions within society. The focal point is the interaction and interdependence of media and conflict. Supporting media cooperation, media networking and media development, as well as capacity building in the field of journalism is recognised as the key factor in conflict transition.

The Project coordinator ensures successful implementation of donor funded media development projects in the MENA region based in Amman, Jordan.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Project coordinator for this position, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Provide strategic direction to the project team in Jordan, ensuring alignment with project objectives and MiCT’s overarching mission.
  • Lead in all implementation and coordination on the ground
  • Represent MiCT at events and coordination meetings
  • Ensure effective coordination and communication among partners, consultants, and regional teams in programmatic and finance/support teams, across partners, and other stakeholders to promote the achievement of objectives.
  • Workshop organization and logistics in project countries incl. workshop accounting
  • Support administrative handling of contract and procurement issues according to donor specifications
  • Support in grant management, financial and programmatic reporting, and preparing reports, TORs, agreements, with team members
  • Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of project progress, challenges, and successes to MiCT’s management and stakeholders.
  • Administrative support for the project lead in HQ, including scheduling, and expense accounting.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media studies, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years experience working in an NGO as well as working with international donors and following compliance
  • Strong leadership skills with experience leading teams.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • An understanding of the local media landscape in the region.
  • Experience working in conflict or post-conflict environments is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgets, operations and logistics.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English languages is required.
