Yoga and Sport With Refugees is looking for a new project coordinator for the teacher team!

Yoga and Sport With Refugees (YSR) was born in October 2017 on the island of Lesvos, Greece, in response to the massive need for healthy safe spaces, the sense of community and a place to work on mental and physical health. In September 2020, we expanded to Athens. Every day, in our gym in Kypseli and outdoor, we offer around 20 different sports activities to approximately 400 people. Our model is unique with over 70 of our past and current coaches coming from a refugee background.

Unfortunately our teacher coordinator in Athens, Aref, is leaving. Therefore, we need a new on the ground coordinator here in Athens to work with Fatemeh and Claude as soon as possible.

The coordinators on the ground share the full project responsibility. Together as a team you decide on organizational matters in the project such as the schedule, activities, volunteers, social media content, events and more. Besides the daily operations, you also work on strategical matters and projects with the wider YSR team. We are offering a position for 0,75 FTE to support our two power women already working on the ground here in Athens.

As the teacher coordinator you are responsible for the full process concerning the teachers: recruitment, onboarding, support and development. You will make sure the team of teachers is diverse and engaged, and feels supported and included.

You will organize team meetings and training, evaluate the needs of the teachers and find solutions to address these needs. Capacity building and skills training is also at the heart of our strategy and you will be involved in strengthening and improving the teacher support and capacity development program, together with the coordinators in other locations, as well as the director.

You will evaluate the teachers needs and capacities in order to find the best developmental strategies and capacity building for the individuals as well as the teachers as a group. This includes organizing training, meetings, team building activities and finding solutions to address individual needs. You will also work on strengthening and improving the teacher support program with the wider YSR team.
