FHI 360/Philippines (www.fhi360.org) through Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) HIV project in the Philippines is seeking applications for the position of Project Communication Specialist.

Project Overview:

EpiC is a global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The project provides strategic technical assistance (TA) and direct service delivery to break through barriers to 95-95-95 and promote self-reliant management of national HIV programs by improving HIV case-finding, prevention, treatment programming and viral load (VL) suppression among key populations (KPs) and priority populations (PPs). In the Philippines, EpiC HIV works in Mega Manila to address critical gaps and bottlenecks in the response to HIV among KPs in the Philippines and build capacity of local, community based KP organizations and work closely with the government of the Philippines to deliver HIV services tailored to the needs of KPs. In addition, EpiC focuses on expanding HIV case finding in the community, expansion of PrEP and treatment initiation, adherence, and retention support for people living with HIV (PLHIV), with a focus on select key population groups.

The project is expected to provide regular updates to its internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to funders from the United States Government as well as with project partners. To help support this, there is a need for a Project Communication Specialist who will lead the communication of the project’s gains and accomplishments.

Job Description:

Report to the Technical Advisor for Social and Behavior Change Communication and work closely with the SBCC sub team to design the implementation of internal and external communication. This includes producing content that shows the project’s gains on prevention, case finding, treatment-seeking behavior, and treatment adherence. The project communication specialist also works with the other sub-teams of the project in drafting, designing, and implementing communication strategies on project communications.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft strategies for internal and external project stakeholders to communicate the project for greater visibility and understanding of its objectives and accomplishments.
  • Conceptualize and deliver engaging content through multiple project channels, including internal channels, e-mail, newsletters, and townhall/all-staff meetings. This includes announcements, success stories, blog posts, art cards, videos, and others.
  • Work with multiple teams within EpiC-HIV and its subgrantees and partners in consolidating key accomplishments for internal and external communication packaging.
  • Collaborate closely with the Communication and Marketing Officer to ensure that project communication strategies are aligned with the client-facing campaigns and communication initiatives as well as provide inputs in ensuring that outputs of vendors and creative consultants are aligned with project objectives.
  • Determine project communication opportunities and draft the talking points for project representatives during thematic events, media engagements, and other activities.
  • Produce regular updates and social media posts for funder communication channels (USAID and PEPFAR social media) and for FHI 360.
  • Assist the Technical Officer for Research and Knowledge Management in documenting project results and impacts in various forms, including media stories, lessons learned, case studies, client satisfaction, and other areas, and contributing to regular quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Technical Advisor for SBCC.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA on Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, or related fields.
  • 3-5 years of development, SBCC, or health communications experience with widescale reach.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills in Filipino and English
  • High attention to detail with strong writing and proof-reading skills
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team unit.
  • Candidates with social marketing/demand generation or any health communication experience desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Usual office working conditions.
  • Ability to travel domestically at least 25%.

The position will be based in Manila, Philippines and work out of the FHI 360 Country office. Preference is for Filipino national candidates.
