Position Title: Project Clerk

Duty Station: IOM Philippines Country Office (Marawi City)

Classification: General Service Staff, G-3**

Type of Appointment: Special short-term graded, six months with possibility of extension

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Sub-Office in Cotabato City, and the direct supervision of the Head of Satellite Office, with technical supervision from the Senior Project Assistant in Cotabato City, the successful candidate will support project implementation related to the transition and recovery programming in Mindanao.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Provide clerical support for the implementation of the transition and recovery project activities, as guided by the Senior Project Assistant.
  • Support community engagement processes such as consultations, focus groups discussions, information campaigns and activities, as directed by the Senior Project Assistant with guidance from National Project Officer.
  • Support administrative coordination for project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units or external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions.
  • Draft monthly status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation.
  • Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
  • Undertake duty travels in support of the programme.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Peace and Development, Education, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with one years of relevant professional experience; or
  • High School degree with three years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in Transition and Recovery programming, such as Prevention of Violent Extremism, Institutional/Community Capacity Building, Social Cohesion, Peacebuilding, Community Stabilization, a distinctive asset.
  • Experience in humanitarian or development operations and/or Government Social Services.
  • Familiarity with the context of BARMM and surrounding areas of Mindanao, especially the Provinces of Lanao del Sur, North Cotabato and Maguindanao, including SPMS Box, an advantage.
  • Experience in liaising with government counterparts, including those in BARMM Ministries.
  • Experience with field operations and project implementation.

Skills

  • Communication, coordination, organizing and liaison skills highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Mindanao context and operational environment are a distinct advantage.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Filipino is required. Working knowledge of any BARMM language is an advantage.

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
