role PURPOSE

She Leads Program

The She Leads Program is a five-year (2021-2025) strategic consortium partnership between Terre des Hommes, Plan International, Defence for Children/ECPAT, African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. The strategic objective behind the She Leads programme is to increase the sustained influence of Girls and Young Women (GYW) on decision-making and the transformation of gender norms in formal and informal institutions. This will be achieved through the attainment of three main outcomes:

  1. Enhanced collective action and activism by GYW in a gender-responsive civil society;
  2. Increased acceptance of positive social gender norms; and
  3. Political institutions – at all levels – enable meaningful participation of GYW in decision-making.

The programme will be implemented in nine countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Jordan, Lebanon, Mali, Liberia, Ghana and Sierra Leone. It will also include regional and international components in the Middle East and North Africa.

The Project Assistant volunteer will be responsible for providing day to day support to the programme operationally and administratively and to support activities in the field. She/he will work closely with all implementing partners to achieve programme objectives with the project team. In coordination with the Regional Country manager, s/he will support in ensuring that internal and external reports submitted in a timely manner and advise senior project staff on issues associated with progress in order to facilitate any necessary changes in implementation and daily work.

Accountabilities

  • Follow up with project officer on the implementation of the activities regional and country level.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support to implementing partners;
  • Support the partners with project officer to ensure all support documents (means of verification) and general project documents are properly completed and filed;
  • Attend sessions conducted throughout the project to ensure good quality is maintained within She Leads project
  • Support the implementing partners and provide continuous feedback to the RCM by sending weekly or monthly updates.
  • Ensure the accurate data collection from beneficiaries;
  • Support as needed logistically for workshops, events and training sessions;
  • Ensure adherence to Plan’s Child Safeguarding Policy and reporting procedures
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate conflict-solving behaviours
  • Undertake all other duties determined by the RCM.

Reporting & Evaluation

  • Support in preparing reports and evaluations of She Leads programme
  • Keep record of relevant project documentation;

Child Safeguarding, gender equality and inclusion

  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan

Key relationships

The post-holder will have high internal contact with the Regional/Country Manager and will work closely with the project team and necessary contact with the operation and finance team.

Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

  • Bachelors level educational qualification in Social Studies, business administration, Development Studies or any related discipline
  • Experience or Interest in conducting research and evidence-based policies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with girls and young women.
  • 0- 2 years of experience.
  • Proven level of passion to learn and implement positive change.
  • Volunteering and social work experience.

Knowledge

  • General knowledge in humanitarian, development work and gender
  • General understanding of financial, administration and information management;
  • General knowledge in Research.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection.

Essential

  • Eager to learn and have the mind set to new concepts and ideas.
  • Good writing and verbal skills in English and Arabic;
  • Must be computer proficient (MS Office and outlook);
  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity;
  • Has experience and the ability to work in diverse cultural contexts in a culturally appropriate manner.

Desirable

  • Good knowledge and understanding of “DO NO HARM” principles;
  • Proactive and fast learner.
  • Facilitation, negotiation and networking;

Physical Environment

The post-holder shall be based at Plan International Jordan offices in Amman with high probability for local travel in Jordan.

Level of contact with children

High level: Frequent interaction with girls and young women.

Location: Amman with travel to the project sites in Jordan governorate
