You’ll contribute to ending world hunger by …

  • To contribute to the national program of the Department of Health’s Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) through the Philippine Approach for Total and Sustainable Sanitation (PhaTSS) with improved outcomes to water sanitation and hygiene
  • To improve local government capacity to prioritise, increase resources, and implement the PhaTSS Program

Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1. Programming

  • Assist the RedAnts Media Team in planning, organizing, and implementing, monitoring various project deliverables related
  • As assigned lead for specific deliverables/activities, the project assistant is responsible for mobilizing face-to-face or virtual meetings including facilitating the discussion, encourage participation, collect, document the outputs/proceeding and share the minutes/report to the participants
  • Coordinate with RedAnts Media in the review and editing of PhATSS guidelines and tools, ensuring quality of outputs and its alignment to proposed changes/inputs of the National Reference Group
  • Coordinate with DoH, UNICEF and other agencies on specific policies, technical guidelines, standards and other requirements related to PhATSS through desk reviews and consultation meetings with different WASH actors
  • Assist RedAnts Media in the conduct of situational analysis and field testing of tools and IECS

Objective 2: Reporting

  • Weekly (or each time necessary) written and oral report for Head of Project.
  • Archiving project technical documents systematically to facilitate organizational level learning, memory and reporting.
  • Consolidate technical reports of Action Against Hunger and RedAnts Media

Objective 3: Security

  • Adhere to the Mission Reporting system and submit the reports requested on-time
  • Respect the Security rules of Action Against Hunger and coordinate with the Security Officer / Head of Project for any security issues relating to work
  • Report any security or other incidents in the field that may interrupt project activities directly to Base Security Officer / Head of Project.

Objective 4: Coordination

  • Work with other team members of Action Against Hunger implementing UNICEF Funded PhATSS in North Cotabato and BARMM ensuring that their inputs and feedback to the tools and guidelines are considered and included.
  • Ensure the inclusion of protection and gender, child protection, disaster risk reduction, environment and other crosscutting issues to the development of the tools and guidelines, taking into account the needs of specific groups and individuals, especially children, elderly, and persons with disabilities.
  • To perform any other work-related activities as agreed with line management.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

  • University degree on the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Development Communication, Journalism, Public Health, Engineering and Social Science
  • Techcnical Knowledge:
    • Significant knowledge on DoH’s ZOD program through PhATSS
    • Familiarity with various policies, technical guidelines and tools related to PhATSS from donors and national government agencies
    • Substantial understanding of ZOD issues and challenges at various levels of the local government
    • Ability to present solutions and ideas to improve content and various technical materials on PhATSS targeting local chief executives, policy makers and local implementers at various levels of the local government
    • Proficient in reviewing and editing technical content and the application of various citation formats, and ethical writing standards
  • At least a year of relevant experience in developing knowledge management products for Nutrition, Health or WASH is an asset
  • Ideally but not necessarily with understanding of the humanitarian and development nexus
  • Strong technical writing, editing and proofreading skills in English and Filipino
  • With good computer skills in the use of MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite; Well versed in online applications, such MS TEAMS, Zoom, Meets etc.., is an asset
  • Mobility:
    • Limited travel to Zamboanga del Norte to assist partners in the assessment or pre-testing related to PhATSS as needed/requested
    • Face-to-face meetings/consultation in Manila with DoH and National Reference groups as needed/requested
  • Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.
