First Steps, Big Step project aims to empower caregivers through parenting sessions to create a more enabling home environment to better respond to children’s needs without discrimination and away from violence. In addition to enabling caregivers to raise children in a safe and enriching environment, early childhood development services are integrated through service providers in different sectors, including the health sector. Where the project was implemented in 14 centers (8 governorates).

The Project Assistant will be based in Amman with frequent travel to project locations inside Jordan. He/ She will be following up the ‘First Steps’ Big Step’ project implementation plans, supporting in overseeing project implementation and liaising with relevant stakeholders. He/ She will be monitoring activity progress in the field and provide accurate and timely status reports and contribute in the reports. The Project Assistant will support the Project team with the preparation of plans and other administrative tasks as required.

Position Accountabilities

The Project Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Assist in perform his/her duties and responsibilities in accordance to the project proposal and in addition to the programmatic, administrative and financial policies/ regulations of Plan International, and in line with the donor rules and regulations.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager and in coordination with the relevant departments, ensure detailed implementation plans are implemented in line with project activities and quality standards.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager and the project staff in writing the project reports effectively.
  • Support in supervision and guidance to the project partner, in close consultation with the relevant departments
  • Conduct regular field visits to project locations
  • Support in producing activity progress in the field and provide accurate and timely status reports.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support to implementing partners;
  • Support the partners to ensure all support documents (means of verification) and general project documents are properly completed and filed;
  • Support as needed logistically for workshops, events and training sessions;
  • Ensure adherence to Plan’s Child Safeguarding Policy and reporting procedures
  • Follow up the reporting systems of the partners for monthly reports to ensure accountability;
  • Support in collecting quantitative and qualitative data in accordance with the monitoring and evaluation plan and provide updates and reports to the project manager.
  • Undertake all other duties that may be determined by the line manager and Country Director and that are compatible with the job.

Child protection, gender equality and inclusion

  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children, Young People, and Programmes Participants and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan

Key relationships

The post-holder will support the ECCD Technical Coordinator and Senior Project Manager. S/he will coordinate closely with the technical team and the operations and finance teams. The post holder will also work closely with all project partners as well as other stakeholders.

Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in ECCD, Education, social studies or any relevant subject to the ECCD sector;
  • 1-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in non-profit sector, preferably the ECCD sector
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, training and facilitation skills.
  • Fluent in Arabic and has an excellent verbal and written English language skills.
  • Sensitivity to gender and child protection
  • INGO work experience is preferred
  • Must be computer proficient (MS Office and outlook);
  • Acts with high degree of integrity and professionalism
  • Good communication, planning and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated capacity and commitment to solve day-to-day program issues;

ROLE PROFILE

Type of Role: Fixed-term job

Contract Duration: 6 months- possibility to extend based on performance and budget
