Remuneration: $1,500 – 2,200 per month depending on level of experience and qualifications, plus benefits

MAGENTA’s Middle East team works across six countries currently (Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Syria and Yemen). Projects include research, strategy development, SBC interventions implementation (including capacity building, tools development and communications campaigns), and evaluation.

In Iraq, MAGENTA implements a growing portfolio of SBC programmes focusing on prevention of gender-based violence, girls’ access to education, explosive ordnance risk education, and support to private sector development. The Project & Monitoring Officer will be supporting an innovative SBC programme aiming to prevent Technology Facilitated Gender Based Violence. The programme has two components (1) a strategic communications campaign and (2) a youth empowerment programme. Both components will be working closely together.

The Project & Monitoring Officer will have a focus on SBC gender programming and be responsible for (1) implementation support, (2) community engagement and mobilization, (3) programme monitoring and reporting.

Qualified candidates will be bold, curious and rigorous. The position will be based in our Erbil office, with regular travel across Iraq.

Responsibilities

Programme Implementation support

  • Responsible for project coordination, logistics and administrative tasks in particular, coordinating with local partners.
  • Support on procurement needs including sourcing potential consultants and partners to as per project requirements to ensure effective programme delivery.
  • Attend and support during coordination meetings as requested.
  • Works closely with Programme Manager to maintain an overview of all programme activities, deliverables and timelines.
  • Proactively seeks to deliver project activities, identifying potential issues and proposing solutions to the Programme Manager.
  • Liaise with local partners and local authorities for training events and provision of participant lists to obtain necessary approval.
  • Provide support to general programme tasks, as needed.
  • Provide support in the translation of documents from Kurdish to English and English to Kurdish and provide translation review support.

Community engagement and mobilization

  • Identify local partners, civil society organisations, grassroot activists and online/offline influencers relevant to the programme.
  • Build trusted relationships with local partners and work closely with subgrantees to ensure effective engagement in the programme.
  • Co-facilitate trainings and workshops in Kurdish.
  • Ensure the youth training and mobilization component of the programme is reflected in the strategic communications component.

Programme monitoring and reporting

  • Responsible for M&E data management and analysis, provide summaries of findings in report form on a regular basis identifying areas for improvement in programme implementation.
  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting against key milestones and programme M&E framework.
  • Monitor and report on local partners’ delivery and performance.

Requirements and Competencies

Education:

  • Relevant degree required.

Experience:

  • 3- 5 years professional experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in gender, youth, or social mobilisation.
  • Strong experience in project coordination and M&E.
  • Strong experience as a trainer/facilitator, and ability to mentor other trainers and facilitators.
  • Solid understanding of project management cycle.
  • Experience working on USG programming strongly preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of the Iraqi civil society landscape, especially in KRI;
  • Substantial knowledge of the international development and/or humanitarian system and institution and donors in Iraq;
  • Technological and software fluency.
