Salary guideline:

(Up to) £35,000.00 Pro Rata (commensurate with experience)

12-Months’ Fixed Term (Renewable / Extendable) with 6-Months’ Probationary Period

Muslim Hands is a UK faith based international relief and development organisation working in over 40 countries worldwide. The headquarters of Muslim Hands is based in Nottingham, with additional operational function of the – fundraising team located in London.

The Role:

The role of this post is to ensure the financial compliance within the programmes team through regular audits, monitoring and evaluation. Working alongside the finance team the post holder will ensure that financial and programme management systems are used effectively. They are also responsible to collate and present annual expenditure forecasts and ensure proposed projects meet financial constraints. Apart from reviewing the expenditure and income forecasts along with the fundraising teams they will also be reviewing all expenditure reports and ensure projects expenditures are acceptable.

Job Specifics:

  • Ensure that financial systems such as the programme management system (P3) are used

effectively by project leads and financial data is inputted correctly.

  • Analyse financial reports throughout the year to ensure programme expenditure is on track.
  • Provide financial advice and support to thematic leads as and when required and work alongside them to develop annual country and programmatic expenditure budgets.
  • Review all proposed programme budgets and ensure that they meet financial restrictions.
  • Ensure the correct due diligence process is followed for financial systems.
  • Coordinate financial reporting activities and review all monthly programmatic financial reports along with the review of end of year expenditure reports
  • Resolve any issues around financial transfers and ensure financial transfers are correct and transferred effectively to partner office
    • Resolve any issues around currency exchange transfers and mitigate forex exchanges.
    • Ensure the correct finance process and procedures are adhered to for all funding agreements, especially on partnerships and institutional funding.
    • Develop and review procedure for oversea field cost support expenditure.
    • Coordinate with thematic leads and CO to ensure financial issues are addressed within programmes and specifically within programme design.
    • Act as a focal point for finance related information in the absence of relevant thematic leads within the programmes team.
  • ensure understanding on financial trends, to ensure information provided is relevant and usable.
    • Provide technical support and clarification on financial policies.
    • Organise relevant trainings and workshops at both UK and field level.
  • Carry out financial monitoring of projects and support the programmes monitoring team with monitoring & evaluation of thematic and programmatic budgets, financial systems and processes which includes evaluation of procurement processes, financial reporting and record keeping, financial systems and processes, cash transfers processes, logistics, inventory etc.

    • Conduct financial monitoring/audit trip to country offices to support and strengthen their financial systems and processes
    • To promote and adhere to all Muslim Hands policies and codes of conduct.
  • To proactively promote excellence in regard to all Muslim Hands’ Values, Policies, Procedures and Processes including but not limited to Personnel Expectations, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Well-being.

  • To undertaking any other duties which may be reasonably regarded as within the nature of the duties, responsibilities and scope of the role.

  • To support with Fundraising activities from time-to-time, committing to partake in live TV appeals during our peak periods.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate current eligibility to work within the United Kingdom
  • Must be able to either:

(1) Provide a valid Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) certificate (issued within the last year) when requested by Muslim Hands; OR (2) Undertake to provide full cooperation for Muslim Hands to perform a DBS Check at the required level appropriate for this / similar role.

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • High level of computer literacy, plus experience of using spreadsheets and accounting software
  • An understanding of the requirements of charitable accounting practices.
  • Ability/experience to carry out the financial tasks as identified in the job description.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
