Who are we?

DRC’s Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding unit (formerly Danish Demining Group) is a specialist unit in the Danish Refugee Council’s Copenhagen Headquarters. We provide programmatic direction, technical leadership and standardization of DRC’s Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding work worldwide. We are looking for a programme specialist to join the team, with a background in conflict-related humanitarian work.

About the job

The role involves quality assurance and technical support to DRC countries operations carrying out humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding work. This includes review of reporting, support to proposal development, provision of programmatic advice and guidance to management. It involves support to country programmes in defined regions and close coordination with HDP technical specialists. The role is suited to applicants with experience of mine action and / or armed violence reduction programming.

The main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Quality management and standardization of HDP written output.
  • Development of HDP programmatic concepts and focus.
  • Quality assurance of proposals, reports and products from countries and regions to donors.
  • Assisting country offices in setting and reviewing objectives for the HDP component.
  • Correspondence with selected donors.
  • Support to strategy development.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need solid and relevant programmatic experience within humanitarian disarmament, mine action or peacebuilding fields. You will be familiar with all aspects of programme implementation, and will be an authority on proposal development and quality assurance, theories of change, and all aspects of results framework logic. You will be experienced in donor engagement, and have knowledge of donors within humanitarian peacebuilding and disarmament circles.

Required

  • Minimum three years’ experience in an INGO (or other relevant organization) working with armed violence reduction and/or mine action, including field work involving programme management / programme development.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with armed violence reduction / mine action concept development, theories of change and results frameworks.
  • University degree in relevant field (bachelor’s or master’s), or equivalent.

We offer

Contract length: permanent

Workplace: Borgergade 10, Copenhagen.

Start date: As soon as possible after 1 May 2022.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and Akademikerne – The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The position is at “fuldmægtig” (academic officer) level. Please note that you need to have the right to work in Denmark or be eligible to apply for a work permit in order to fulfil this role.
