Climate Bonds Initiative

Job Title: Colombian Programme Manager

Location: Colombia (remote)

About The Climate Bonds Initiative

Climate Bonds Initiative is an investor-focused NGO working to mobilise the $100 trillion global bond market for climate change solutions. We promote investment in projects and assets necessary for a rapid transition to a low carbon and climate resilient economy.

Our main work streams are green bond standards and certification, data and market analysis, policy and market development, communications and advocacy.

Climate Bonds is a fast growing, dynamic NGO driven by a big mission. You will be working within an organisation that is leading the development of innovative international climate finance solutions.

The role

Colombia has demonstrated a strong interest in developing its sustainable finance market, through the development of its green taxonomy and issuance of two Sovereign green bonds in the local market. The country has created and disseminated new strategies and policies that allow greater protection of the environment, making this agenda one of the top priorities at the national and regional levels. Additionally, greening its financial system is critical from a mitigation and adaptation point of view. The green bond market has developed significantly but needs more engagement from the real and financial sector.

CBI’s work and knowledge on taxonomies has proven to be relevant for advising countries like Colombia on their pathways to develop a local taxonomy. This confirms CBI’s capability and leadership to guarantee integrity and harmonization among international taxonomies. The opportunity now is to ensure that the Colombian Taxonomy is well understood and used by the financial market.

CBI is about to start the third phase of the UK PACT project aims to support the implementation stage and socialization of the Colombian Green Taxonomy. The local criteria provides clarity to the financial market on what activities are green for mitigation and adaptation purposes. In addition, this phase also includes an engagement strategy to maintain relationships with relevant entities that are central to promote the sustainable finance in the country. CBI will continue with the delivery of technical assistance to support knowledge-sharing and skill enhancement for project assessment using the local and international taxonomies.

Requirements

Reporting to the Head of Latin America, the Colombian Project Manager works closely with colleagues from across the global Climate Bonds organisations.

As Project Manager you will be influential in assisting CBI’s Latin American team on the delivery of key objectives for the Colombian Green Finance Programme.

Leading the project, you be responsible and accountable for overseeing all project planning and implementation activities as well as supporting potential issuers such as banks, state-owned enterprises, municipalities, large corporates, and verifiers with advise on green bond issuance and Climate Bonds Standard & Certification.
