Functional Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, and in close coordination with the Programme Management Officer, the Programme Management Specialist will be expected to perform various activities including:

  • Provide direct assistance to, and in some cases lead, the planning and delivery of projects and capacity building activities, at the global level.
  • Communicate and coordinate with national, regional government representatives, civil society organisations, and industry stakeholders on the implementation of activities under the guidance of the Programme Manager.
  • Propose plan and conduct scoping missions to Member States and regional bodies to determine capacity building needs and develop plans for implementation.
  • Plan, develop and conduct workshops, technical assistance and other training on (PRR)/PCVE under the supervision of the Programme Manager.
  • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
  • Develop appealing and effective communications products, content and materials in support of the Programme’s deliverables and results, including policy briefs, reports, engagement platform and social media content to promote Programme activities.
  • Identify, advise, and develop opportunities for programme iteration and the collection of global good practices.
  • Provide inputs to reporting, briefing, and presentation materials related to the programme activities.
  • Provide technical support for critical meetings, conferences, and seminars for UNCCT focused issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve visibility and implementation of the Programme through communications.
  • Keep track of donor reporting requirements and timelines and manage timely submissions; Draft narrative and financial reports for donors in compliance with specific donor requirements and seek and compile relevant inputs from project partners.
  • Support the coordination of activities related to resource mobilization (background research, concept notes, and proposals preparation and submissions, progress reports, etc.).
  • Support the Programme Manager and Office on other activities as required.

Monitoring and Progress Controls

Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will work closely with the UNOCT/UNCCT Head of the Global Programme on PRR/PCVE.

Education/Experience/Language requirements:

Education:

  • Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) preferably in Political Science, International Relations, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or other relevant field with five years’ experience is required; Or
  • First Level University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience is required.

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of relevant professional experience working in programmes and/or projects is required;
  • Experience in research, resource mobilization, drafting, reporting, strategic communications, donor reporting, measurement or evaluation of projects and stakeholder relations is desired;
  • Direct experience in prevention or countering of violent extremism or PRR is desired;
  • Experience in Programme Management with UN or NGOs or other humanitarian organization desired.

Language:

  • Fluency in oral and written English is required;
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset.
