Strategy development & coordination
- Drive the planning and implementation of national climate mobility deep dives in collaboration with partner institutions and stakeholders
- Prepare climate mobility country profiles in consultation with the findings of modeling and field research results
- Conduct technical assessments of frontline communities to identify solutions and adaptation measures needed to address their challenges in the context of climate mobility
- Conduct mapping exercises to identify and build a policy ecosystem consisting of regional, national, and local partners and stakeholders
- Guide the construction of a digital platform based on the data and knowledge from the modeling and field research
Project coordination
- Ensures the alignment of the project efforts to build partnerships for advancing the agency of frontline communities with the overall programmatic efforts of the Climate Mobility Initiatives.
- Support the knowledge management efforts and drive synergy across various regional Climate Mobility Initiatives
- Track project progress and ensure deliverables are on schedule and fully support the project objectives
- Support the implementation of flagship projects that advance innovative solutions to address the challenges faced by communities at the frontline of climate crisis
Expert approach
- Brings expertise in building communities of practice and in particular supporting the participation of youth groups in policy ecosystems and stakeholder consultation processes
- Ensures the appropriate policy and subject-matter expertise is incorporated in programmatic activities.
- Oversees the preparation of reports on the project activities.
- Designs and organizes strategic engagements, including the Conference of the Parties (COPs) and other conferences, meetings, side events and activities.
Communications
- Advises and leads on relevant communication efforts that help advance the project objectives.
- Oversees relevant website content, social media activities, and publication activities, including outreach materials, to raise global awareness and build global momentum.
- Drafts relevant speeches and statements for high-level public appearances, media engagements, and publications.
Education/Experience/Language requirements:

Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree) preferably in Economic Development, Engineering, Data Science or other relevant fields is required.
- Two (2) additional years of relevant experience, in combination with a relevant first-level university (bachelor’s degree or equivalent), may substitute for the requirement of a master’s degree.
Required Experience:
- At least seven (7) years of relevant professional experience in environment, migration, water security, green solutions and skills, socio economic issues, public policy, climate mobility, and/or programme/project management is required.
- Proven track record of active participation and engagement in the UN work related to climate change and/or migration is required.
Desirable experience (the following experience is optional candidates who do not have it are welcome to apply):
- Experience in advocacy and organizing events in international fora such as the COP, is desired.
- Experience effectively synthesizing, communicating and presenting technical and policy findings in a clear and concise manner to colleagues internally and to external non-technical audiences, including through producing briefing, speeches and strategy papers for seniors is desired.
Language:
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
