Programme Funding Officer-Charitable Trusts

JOB PURPOSE

As part of this role, you will be coordinating the project management of the income from three of Amnesty International’s charitable trusts. These are Amnesty UK, Amnesty Canada and Amnesty International Secretariat. A key aspect of the role will be working with various programme teams to ensure allocated funds are being spent on selected projects and to track and report on any projects that deviate from their original purpose. You will often be working towards tight deadlines and reporting to multiple teams.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To advise and support the Finance and Global Strategy and Impact teams in the selection process of assessment grant projects for AIUK, AI Canada, and AIC.
  • To manage assessment income grants that fund projects across the IS from Amnesty UK, Amnesty Canada, and the International Secretariat charitable trusts. Supporting all aspects of grant management related to projects funded through these grants, coordinating with programme staff, GSIP and International Finance
  • To work with the International Secretariat teams that are funded through these grants to provide regular reporting to Trustees and senior leadership capturing project progress, lessons learned, and impact
  • To work with the International Finance team preparing relevant financial reports for the Trustees and IS senior leadership, ensuring accountability to donors.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven work experience as Programme Officer, Project Coordinator or similar role
  • Excellent written communication skills and report writing skills, with a proven ability to explain complex issues clearly for internal and external audiences including donors
  • Good attention to detail; highly numerate with ability to review budgets and financial reports
  • Knowledge of supporting large scale restricted programmes of work, for example with international trusts, foundations, institutional sources, major donors and individual giving
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team, delivering on clear goals, coordinating work with colleagues and providing advice to other members of the team when required
