CARE Canada is looking for a Program & Operations Manager on a one-year contract!

ABOUT THE ROLE / WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

Reporting to the Head of Programs – Gender, Food and Climate Justice (GFCJ), the Program & Operations Manager brings excellent program and operations management skills coupled with technical capacity in gender transformative market systems development, food security, feminist monitoring, evaluation and learning and program support (development and humanitarian). The Program & Operations Manager is responsible for managing over CAD$5M in projects primarily funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), managing CARE Canada’s project-specific relationship with GAC and working closely with Country Office colleagues to ensure donor compliance and to share project learning. The Program & Operations Manager is also responsible for providing operational and program development support to CARE International in Cuba. This position requires innovation, flexibility, a keen attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills.

WHAT YOU OFFER / ABOUT YOU

  • Significant experience managing international development and/or humanitarian projects, with experience working in the global south.
  • Experience managing for results using RBM tools.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to convey complex programming to a range of audiences.
  • Experience working across cultures to build trust and effective relationships.
  • Comfort delivering presentations and speaking to a range of audiences.
  • Experience in applying rights-based and gender transformative approaches to programming.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following programming areas: gender equality and diversity, humanitarian response, food security, rural/agricultural development, market-based approaches, women’s economic justice, women’s rights, climate change
  • Promote and maintain an organizational culture that advances gender equality, reduces power abuse and inequalities, and fosters trust and safety.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and Spanish

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU EXTRAORDINARY

  • Knowledge of contracting with the Global Affairs Canada and its current development priorities, policies, and development tools.
  • Comfort delivering presentations and speaking to a range of audiences.
  • Written and/or verbal communication skills in French
  • Experience working in a fragile or disaster-affected state
  • Familiarity of the development or humanitarian branches of Global Affairs Canada

REQUIREMENTS

Promote and maintain an organizational culture that advances gender equality, reduces power abuse and inequalities, and fosters trust and safety.

Create an environment within CARE’s workplaces, programming, and communities where CARE works that is free from sexual harassment, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation and child abuse (SHEA-CA).

Ensure high standards of prevention and response measures for SHEA-CA are in place consistent with the CARE International (CI) Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Code of Conduct.
