Job Overview

The Program Officer, Community Engagement for Vulnerable Populations, will further IRC efforts in the Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI) unit to build and harness key community partnerships, particularly with Ukrainian diaspora networks in the US. The Program Officer works within the HQ Resettlement Team and reports to Director, Client & Community Engagement.

Major Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with local program offices and HQ staff to identify partnership needs and opportunities

  • Support offices and headquarters with internal vetting, contracting, MOUs, and other processes for formal partnership agreements in alignment with IRC systems

  • Create and implement national partnership engagement strategies

  • Provide technical assistance to offices on the creation and implementation of partner engagement plans and strategies

  • Build new partnerships with diaspora networks and strengthen and sustain partnerships with existing networks

  • Facilitate listening sessions

  • Create and maintain regular communication/feedback cycle with partners and stakeholders

  • Relay Ukrainian diaspora community priorities and interests to RAI leadership and partners

  • Represent IRC at stakeholder meetings as assigned

  • Create tools, fact sheets, presentations, templates, and other culturally-informed resources and methods to support national and local outreach

  • Deliver briefings and presentations to national and local diaspora networks, and support staff and leadership for briefings and presentations

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Social Work, International Affairs, or related field highly desirable

Work Experience:

  • Minimum four years’ relevant progressive non-profit work experience
  • Experience in community engagement, government relations, partnership development, donor relations, and/or external affairs ideal

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Fluent in English, Ukrainian and/or Russian
  • Knowledge of the primary needs, barriers, and opportunities of Ukrainian communities in the US
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of US Refugee Resettlement Programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Basic visual design skills a plus (PowerPoint, Infographics, Publisher)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to develop practical strategies and willingness to provide hands-on support
  • Ability to manage others and work through change in a proactive and positive manner.

Working Environment:

Flexibility for either remote or in-office working arrangements. Position requires some flexibility to participate in meetings or calls outside of regular working hours when needed.

Occasional travel to other IRC locations may be required.
