JOB CONTEXT:

HI has been operating in South Sudan since 2006, implementing emergency and development actions aimed at improving protection, quality of life, and the promotion of rights of vulnerable individuals, including people with disabilities. HIs current portfolio adopts an integrated and multi-sectoral approach which includes interventions centred on MHPSS, Protection, Functional Rehabilitation and livelihoods with disability inclusion a cross-cutting theme across all programmes. In 2021, HI established a base in the greater Unity, which remains among the most conflict and disability affected states of the country. The operational context in South Sudan today is considered largely humanitarian/emergency while phasing in resilience programming.

Under the responsibility of the Country Director, you contribute within the country where you will be based to the implementation of the mandate and the 10-year strategy of Humanity & Inclusion. You will have a duo role; being the technical specialist in Inclusive Humanitarian Action and providing overall leadership of the programme development team, made up of 3 technical specialists and a business development specialist. You share with all HI managers the responsibility of a sound management and successful functioning of the global organization, through paradigm changes.

YOUR MISSION:

Main responsibilities and related activities:

1. Management : Be the manager of the Technical Unit team members

2. Technical expertise: contribute to the regional strategies in line with the global strategies. ensure the respect of global technical frameworks and standards and the learning process from projects, ensure the development of research and innovation projects, the control & monitoring of the technical quality and the compliance of the technical proposition with nexus stakes, and contribute as well to the Technical Divisions professional channel animation

3. Influence: ensure the local external prestige and influence of HI’s expertise

4. Business development and fundraising: ensure the technical development of major opportunities for each different theme in the region.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • You hold a Master’s level in a relevant field
  • You have at least 5 to 7 years of professional experience in the field of humanitarian/development assistance
  • You have technical skills in Disability Inclusion and others HI sectors of intervention such as : Physical Rehabilitation, Mental Health & Psychosocial Support, Humanitarian Mine Action, Basic Needs and Inclusive Education/Education
  • You have a strong knowledge of MEAL systems & implementation and safeguarding frameworks
  • You have strong Capacity Building skills and know how to develop capacity-building techniques (training of adults)
  • You have excellent internal and external coordination and representation skills
  • You are fluent in English and another international language
  • You have experiences working as part of a team/network
  • You have experience writing proposals and donor reports
  • You have knowledge of major humanitarian donors, rules and regulations
  • You have the ability to coordinate design processes, including in partnership with other organizations and in consortia.

  • 6 months International contract starting from August 2022
  • The international contract provides social cover adapted to your situation:
    • Unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals
    • Pension scheme adapted to the situation of our employees: If you already have a personal pension scheme HI will contribute at the same level of your personal monthly contribution with a maximum of 272.53€/month ; If you do not have a personal pension scheme, we will open a private pension account with your contribution of 272.53€/month and a contribution of HI of the same amount
    • Medical coverage with 50% of employee contribution
    • Repatriation insurance paid by HI
  • Salary from 2869€ gross/month upon experience
  • Perdiem: 680,49 € net/month – paid in the field
  • Hardship: 500 € net/month paid with your salary
  • Paid leaves: 25 days per year;
  • R&R: according to the level of the mission every 8 weeks
  • Position: unaccompanied
  • Housing: individual taken in charge by HI
