Overview

The John and Terry Levin Center for Public Service and Public Interest Law (“Levin Center”) seeks to hire a full-time Program Manager to implement a broad range of programs, activities, and events that support students, alumni, staff, faculty, and practitioners as well as research into issues relating to access to justice. In this student facing position, your job responsibilities will involve program implementation and administration, event management, project coordination, accounting and budgeting, as well as support for fundraising and stewardship efforts.

The Levin Center is responsible for the development, administration, and implementation of programs, events, workshops, and curricula that promote and support public service in the legal profession for our students as well as alumni. The mission of the Center also includes providing research support to strengthen development of the public interest legal field. It hosts practitioner convenings, engages in research, provides consulting to non-profits and foundations, and works with partner organizations to develop reports as well as disseminate information that supports the health and sustainability of the public interest sector.

This position will report to the Associate Dean of Public Service and Public Interest Law.

Description

The Program Manager position is a critical member of the Levin Center team. This position will work with various staff members to implement a broad range of programs.

The Levin Center’s current activities include the following: Career Development Program, Externship Program, Faculty Mentor Program, Pro Bono Program, Public Interest Fellows Program, Public Interest Skills Workshops, Public Service Awards, Summer Public Interest Employment Funding Program and Postgraduate Fellowship Funding Program. Center staff also engage in teaching and research.

An ideal candidate should: (a) have a strong interest in student services; (b) have experience organizing, planning, executing, and evaluating special events; (c) understand how to develop and implement programs; (d) be comfortable and enjoy working with students and diverse communities; (e) have an interest or background in issues related to poverty, under-representation, and expansion of access to justice in the US and abroad; and (f) be committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within the workplace and in program development. The Duties Of The Program Manager Will Include

  • Act on behalf of the Associate Dean and Directors to establish priorities and identify and resolve problems that are administrative and programmatic in nature.
  • Oversee and perform duties associated with planning and implementing student focused events and programs such as the Career Development Program; the Post-Graduate Public Interest Fellowship Program; the Pro Bono Program and Fair; the Externship Program. Assist in planning and developing speaker series, workshops, and other events.
  • Create marketing materials for events (e.g., flyers, graphic emails, promotional items, use of social media).
  • Update and manage database content as well as run reports and make recommendations based on reports and survey feedback.
  • Update and manage website content as needed.
  • Independently plan and schedule calendars, make travel arrangements.
  • Monitor budgets and process a variety of financial transactions, including reimbursements, review terms and conditions regarding contracts, understand outside party requirements, and follow up and resolve issues.
  • Communicate with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Develop, analyze, influence and review policies, processes and programs by incorporating feedback and trend data learned from first-line interactions with students. Advise team on policy updates and provide recommendation for implementation of changes.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.

Education & Experience

Job qualifications:

High school diploma and six years of administrative experience, or combination of education and relevant experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Advanced computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, prior student services experience a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and assign work to others.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
  • Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
