Know our team

The Program Director, Asia will be reporting to the Regional Director with a matrix relationship to the Business Development Director based in Ottawa. The Program Director will work closely with both the Program Operations Unit (including the Regional Director, Deputy Regional Directors, Program Advisors at the regional level, Program Managers and Country Directors at the country level, and Operations Director at the HQs level) and the Business Development (BD) Unit. Nutrition International’s Business Development (BD) unit is a diverse team of dedicated professionals with extensive global experience in resource mobilization and non-profit fundraising for international development. The unit leads, coordinates, and supports funding identification and positioning, grant acquisition, and relationship cultivation processes with institutional and private donors and implementing partners. The BD unit works closely with other teams across the organization to grow and diversify resources for Nutrition International’s global strategy and Investment Case. The BD team is located in Nutrition International’s Headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, with dedicated counterparts within our Regional Offices in Africa and Asia.

About you

As part of Nutrition International’s Asia Regional Team, the Program Director will be responsible for managing a portfolio of NI donor funded projects and for supporting new business development opportunities, primarily institutional fundraising in Asia. The position holder will also support the enhanced capacity of Country Office staff to manage new grants to grow the scale and scope of NI’s impact and influence in the region and secure financial resources for Nutrition International (NI). We are looking for candidates with demonstrated recent experience with proposal writing and grant development, either in a lead or supporting role, as well as a proven ability to effectively manage donor grants and relationships at country, regional and global levels. The ideal candidate will bring on board current knowledge of development issues, strategies, as well as programming policies, and procedures in international development. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan, and execute ideas, as well as to impart knowledge and help develop skills. We are looking for a candidate with experience in developing comprehensive proposals for projects funded by donors such as Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the U.K.’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the European Union, and others. Successful candidates will have proven experience in developing high-value winning proposals preferably in the fields of health, nutrition, and gender empowerment.

You are someone with a post-graduate/advanced university degree required in social sciences, international development, marketing, management, business or public administration, or related fields, required (Master’s level qualifications preferred). You have 10 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in project and grant management and business development , preferably in a not-for-profit environment. You are experienced in Donor Grant Management and Compliance, Donor and Partner Engagement, Project Development and design expertise, including developing logical frameworks, performance measurement frameworks and budgets with a proven track record of success developing competitive, high-value proposals. You have excellent writing ability and presentation skills in English.

About the role

In this role you will:

Lead the regional level grant implementation, management and reporting throughout the project cycle for a portfolio of NI projects .

Working with the Deputy Regional Directors and CDs, prepare proposal submissions by: writing submissions and coordinating the overall process, including the writing and submission at the Asia regional level and for countries in the region.

Support the development and maintenance of strong relationships with current and potential new donors at regional and country levels along with Country Directors and other senior regional staff by strengthening proactive engagement and communication with donors.

Support CDs and their teams in the utilization of NI management tools and processes
