Here’s where you come in:

As the Program Development Unit Manager, you will support grant acquisition and thought leadership for nexus (emergency-recovery-resilience and peace) and innovation programming in Somalia together with Program Development and Quality Assurance Director and in close collaboration with Somalia Resilience Program (SomRep) Chief of Party.

You will lead the development of competitive, multi-sector and technically complex emergency, recovery, and innovation proposals. You will support the identification, development and scaling of best practices emanating from World Vision Somalia Flagship programs, such as SomReP.

You will lead acquisition, including (i) donor engagement with emphasis on new donors/charities/multilateral relationships; (ii) leadership for concept and proposal development processes; (iii) development of partnerships with academic, private sector and NGO actors to support competitiveness. You will champion World Vision’s thought leadership through (i) development of knowledge and communication products; (ii) engagement in Somali, regional and international information-sharing and learning forums, including clusters, World Bank Fragility Forum and DRIVE initiative, AFDB- DIRISHA, DIHAD, USAID Resilience Network, etc; and (iii) management of media/communication on resilience (e.g. tweeting)

Requirements include:

  • A At least 7 years grant acquisition experience with proven capacity in the development of complex, multi-sector resilience/nexus (humanitarian-to-development) proposal with a preference for fragile contexts
  • Must demonstrate extensive experience in coordination of multiple local and international stakeholders, including inter/intra-agency, public/private, and government
  • Excellent English language writing capacity with experience in copy-editing for English-language documents
  • Proven ability to mobilize multiple technical consultants, partners, private sector and academic partners to develop complex, multi-sector proposals; 3+ years’ experience in the preparation of communication and/or learning products for multiple stakeholders, including donors, governments, agencies, etc.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Nairobi-based
  • 35% travel to Somalia
  • 5% travel to East Africa
