Overview

Global Fund for Children (GFC) invests in community-based organizations around the world to help children and youth reach their full potential and advance their rights.

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join us as a Program Assistant for a six-month term. This role is designed to support the regional Co-Director, Africa, based in Monrovia, Liberia, primarily focusing on organizing and executing the 2024 West Africa Adolescent Girls Summit. Additionally, the position involves ensuring thorough documentation and effective dissemination of outcomes derived from a learning review and convening of the Empowering Girls, Ending Violence against Girls initiative.

Responsibilities:

Event Design, Coordination, and Documentation

  • Assist the regional co-Director to plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of the 2024 Adolescent Girls Summit planned for March 26-29, 2024.
  • Support the meaningful participation of adolescent participants in the summit planning, ensuring their perspectives and needs are at the forefront.
  • Assist in designing and implementing preparatory activities, workshops, and engagement sessions leading up to the summit.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, partners, and sponsors involved in the summit to ensure smooth collaboration and coordination.
  • Oversee the documentation process during the summit, ensuring comprehensive recording of discussions, outcomes, and key learnings.
  • Support the Co-Director in conducting a thorough post-summit review, gathering feedback, and implementing improvements for future events.
  • Any other related task.

Learning and Documentation

  • Reach out to partners in Liberia and Sierra Leone, relevant GFC staff and consultants to gather all relevant materials, reports, data, and documentation from a GFC learning review and convening held in December 2023
  • Collate and organize information, ensuring comprehensive coverage of discussions, conclusions, and actionable outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with partners, GFC program and learning and evaluation team to ensure accuracy and completeness of the compiled information.
  • Analyze gathered data and insights to distill key findings, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Develop a coherent structure for presenting the outcomes in a format suitable for publication.
  • Incorporate feedback and suggestions from stakeholders and internal review processes into the final publication drafts.
  • Finalize a comprehensive report that encapsulates the essence of the learning review outcomes and convening discussions.
  • Work with GFC Communication team to develop engaging content that conveys the key messages effectively to a varied audience and ensure adherence to established quality standards and guidelines.
  • With the support of GFC communications team, devise a strategy for dissemination, ensuring the publication reaches the intended audience through appropriate outlets.
  • Any other related task

Qualifications

  • Experience in event planning and management, preferably with a focus on adolescents and youth or gender-related initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with adolescents and diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in documentation, report writing, and dissemination of outcomes.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the empowerment and well-being of adolescent girls.
