ABOUT MEDGLOBAL

MedGlobal was founded in June 2017 by physicians who are experienced in humanitarian medicine to address the health needs of the most vulnerable across the world. MedGlobal is an international medical non-profit organization providing health services to people in need, including refugees and displaced persons, in disaster and underserved regions. The organization is composed of medical and public health volunteers of diverse backgrounds.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

MedGlobal is seeking a Programs Assistant Intern to work under our Missions Coordinator. This is an opportunity to learn from a multi-disciplinary team of skilled professionals while contributing to MedGlobal’s provision of free, high-quality healthcare to refugees, internally displaced people, victims of natural and human-made disasters, and indigent populations in developing countries worldwide.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a focal point between MedGlobal head office, program managers and implementing partners on the ground.
  • Conducting research on topics including:
  • ○ Background/history of countries affected by complex humanitarian emergencies
  • ○ Best practices in non-profit program development
  • ○ Landscape analyses and needs assessments of countries where MedGlobal works
  • Compiling and recording project documentation from MedGlobal’s partner organizations
  • Drafting internal and external program materials
  • Compiling data about MedGlobal’s programs (e.g. impact statistics) and drafting reports
  • Reviewing and sharing updates from the countries where MedGlobal works
  • Assisting with reviewing program activities, and partners’ procurement documents (collecting and comparing quotations from suppliers and shippers, conducting due diligence, etc.)
  • Drafting guidance / instructional materials for standardized processes
  • Other responsibilities as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Prompt and reliable
  • Courteous and professional
  • Strong writing and research skills
  • Conversation-driven and able to deliver reports and converse with individuals from diverse social, cultural, economic, religious, racial, ethnic, and other backgrounds
  • Familiarity with Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, and Drive) and Microsoft Office required
  • Knowledge of public health and/or non-profit operations beneficial
  • Experience with graphic design, including the use of Canva, beneficial

Please note that this intern position is unpaid and fully remote. We are requesting the following availability: ● For summer intern (6+ weeks in July, August, and/or September) ○ 15+ hours per week (e.g. 3 hours per day, 5 days per week) ● For fall, winter, and/or spring intern (12+ weeks beginning September or later) ○ 10+ hours per week
