We are currently hiring a Program Accountant to join the Finance team in London. The role will involve working closely with the Program Team, Operational Teams and Business Development Team. The role holder will be responsible for providing financial accounting, financial planning, financial monitoring and donor reporting, support to Project Managers (PM), Project Coordinators and other stakeholders as required. The position will report to the CFO and have key relationships with all teams in the Foundation.

About the Role

As a Program Accountant at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will:

  • Manage the oversight of Projects you will be responsible for from initial set up to closure, working closely with Program Managers to ensure all aspects of the Foundation’s financial project management and donor reporting requirements are met.
  • Monitor and review project income and expenditure ensuring accuracy and compliance to donor contract and the organisations financial policies.
  • Ensure monthly review of cost allocations to projects and performance against agreed budgets with PM to identify, investigate, and resolve accounting inaccuracies and variances working with relevant stakeholders in a timely manner etc.
  • Work closely with the Regional Controller ensuring project / contract accounting is up to date and reconciled monthly to key financial systems.
  • Support the Business Development team in the preparation of project proposal budgets ensuring full cost recovery and compliance with Donor requirements including review and sign off on any revisions to proposed budgets following donor feedback.
  • Review Donor financial reports in line with donor reporting requirements with PM ensuring accuracy and reconciliation to TRF systems.
  • Contribute proactively with the design of financial policies, planning and monitoring tools in the organization.
  • Undertake ad-hoc financial analysis as requested by the CFO.
  • Support the Regional Controller in delivering a clean year end and provide cover for other PROGRAM ACCOUNTANTS if required.

About You

To be our Program Accountant, you will likely:

  • Accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/ CIMA/CIFPA),
  • Experience of project / contract accounting in Charities including knowledge of donor reporting and compliance,
  • Experienced in preparation of budgets and financial reports,
  • Experience of charity accounting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting financial data with clarity,
  • Experienced in the use of financial systems preferably SAP
