About The Role

As a Product Owner, you will be a liaison between the product and development teams, translating product roadmap into features and users stories. 

You will work closely with the Product Manager to establish the Product Roadmap and contribute to determining realistic timelines and requirements. You will help identify and organize the next steps required for progression on the roadmap to ensure timelines are met and expectations are aligned. With the vision, strategy, and product priorities set, you will spend a significant amount of time overseeing the actual development of the product. As a key player throughout each event, you will lead important key meetings and oversee the cadence of all Sprint Ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Retrospective and Backlog Grooming. 

You will also be a key member of the broader product team, working with cross functional teams and stakeholders such as UI/UX teams, User Research, Marketing and Customer Success, supporting with your expertise and thought leadership.

  • Collaborate with Product Strategy to Bring Visions to Life: Collaborate directly with key stakeholders including the Product Manager to ideate, plan, and prioritize the necessary action items to bring a product vision to life
  • Support execution of Product Roadmap and Development: Including translating customer needs/business goals into clear product requirements and collaborating with the development team, unblocking the teams where necessary.
  • Key Team Player: Collaborating with UX, CX and Marketing teams to seek solutions to problems and make priority trade-offs based on customer requirements, team capabilities and deadlines.
  • Support Product Launch & Deployment: Support relevant teams by communicating on the status of development and product needs. Ensuring that features being built meet the Acceptance Criteria and can be presented to users with full confidence. Develop and maintain appropriate tracking and reporting of product performance to evaluate future investment.

About Our Company

Combyne Ag is an online crop marketing management tool built for farmers. We are a venture-backed ag-tech startup based in Ottawa and active across Canada and the US.

You will be helping our team work on cutting edge tools and infrastructure for sustainability in agriculture. We are actively working on creating links between on-farm practices and the supply chain so both farmers and product companies can understand how on-farm practices impact the carbon intensity of end products like food and biofuels. You will be involved with bringing these tools to life for farmers and end buyers in the food and biofuel supply chain. 

About Our Team

We are a small and collaborative team working together to build a great software product. Our team combines a mix of product management, user research, UX/UI design, product marketing and software development expertise. As a whole, we support and encourage each other, feeding off our individual inspirations and goals, and enabling each other to grow professionally and to contribute to our common success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage product backlog
  • Oversee the cadence of Sprint Ceremonies
  • Translate product managers’ strategies to tasks for development
  • Be accessible to development to answer any questions
  • Work alongside Product Manager to analyze monthly product metrics and report to team
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment
  • Effective at driving short-term actions that are consistent with long-term goals

Qualifications

  • Background in Business/ IT or related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment
  • Excellent knowledge of the Agile Framework and Sprint Ceremonies
  • Maintain a deep understanding of our product(s), including its features and functionality identifying new opportunities for growth.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a keen attention to detail, multitask and work well under pressure
  • Nice-to-have: 
  • Experience working with product management tools (e.g. Craft, Aha!)
  • Experience with Agile tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, YouTrack)
  • Experience with Analytics tools (e.g. Amplitude, Tableau)
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada or the United States
