This is an exciting time to work for the Missionary Department! The Product Manager of Interactive Content and Experience in the Missionary Department will create and manage products for the interested friends and member audiences with the purpose of furthering the mission of the Church by inviting all to come unto Christ. The focus of the Product Manager is on meeting the needs of this customer audience as they help the Church fulfill its mission to gather Israel.
Responsibilities
As a Product Manager in the Missionary Department, you will lead out in creating user-facing, user-centric, web-based products, content and experiences that meet the needs of interested friends and members and accomplishing the missions of the department and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The following is a breakdown of some of the duties the Product Manager will lead:
Discovery and Sponsorship-
- Identify the most important problems and opportunities of the interested friends and member audiences.
- Draft discussion guides and conduct regular listening sessions to stay in touch with the voice of the customer. This will include internal users of the products, stakeholders, missionaries, members, and interested friends.
- Synthesize data from both qualitative and quantitative sources to identify the most urgent and pervasive problems for the audience and users of the systems we create.
- Become an expert in the data that aids inspiration and decision-making.
- Obtain feedback on the product, using data, analytics, and customer input, to iterate and drive improvements.
- Sponsor and represent the need for products to stakeholders at various levels in the organization.
Test and iterate-
- Work with designers and engineers to form hypotheses and develop online content and experiences for the best way to fulfill the opportunities identified in Discovery.
- Test hypotheses and collect data about the effectiveness of the content and experiences.
- Iteratively refine and improves the designs.
Build and Launch-
- Lead a team of content creators, designers, analysts and engineers to create the best solutions possible.
- Lead and collaborate with teams to launch and manage interactive content, features, experiences, and improvements.
- Work with service departments to select and manage vendors who support the work.
- Own the product vision and inspire the team to do the best work of their lives.
- Clearly communicate the priority and definition of requirements to service organizations.
- Oversee the successful launch of products and solutions.
- Coordinate the planning and rollout of user education to ensure a successful launch.
Measure, learn, and iterate-
- Measure the level of success for the audiences’, teams’, and organization’s goals.
- Continue to sponsor product improvements throughout the lifecycle of the product to ensure continued success of organizational goals.
- At times, based on data or organizational priorities, lead the efforts to fully retire content and experiences that no longer efficiently meet the objectives for which they were sponsored.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have several of the skills, qualifications, and experiences listed below.
- 4+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary projects or initiatives as a product manager.
- Experience in content creation, user-experience design, learning experience design, instructional design and/or delivering messages and content.
- Enthusiasm and success at creating user-centric experiences. Able to empathize with customers and translate that to content or product functionality.
- Experience defining product requirements, managing initiatives, roadmaps, backlogs, and/or development teams.
- Understanding of tech and product development processes, known as a person who can speak both tech and business languages.
- Results driven, highly organized, takes initiative and responsibility for getting results.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Preferred experience working with external vendors.
- Ability to create and deliver executive-level presentations.
- Bachelor’s degree required in business, marketing, communications or related disciplines, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Worthiness Qualification
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
