Association for Aid and Relief Japan

Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) is an International Non-Governmental Organization that reaches out to the most vulnerable populations around the globe. In Kenya, AAR Japan has been implementing emergency responses and education projects for both local and refugee communities mainly in Kakuma, Kalobeyei, and its surrounding areas.

Following the impactful food distribution project AAR Japan carried out last year in response to the drought and rising prices of commodities for local communities in Kakuma and Kalobeyei, it is implementing cash and voucher assistance (CVA) project funded by the Japan Platform (JPF) to further enhance the resilience of local population from April 2024.

The project aims to enable the vulnerable population not only to access necessary food but also to strengthen their financial knowledge and capacity to cope with frequent drought and climate change. A total of 230 households will receive unconditional cash which is calculated as 75% of the Minimum Expenditure Basket (MED) during 4 months.
