The Opportunity

This role will be responsible for the supervision of the set up or scale up of emergency response procurement functions in earthquake affected areas. This person will be responsible for support to staffing structures, and supervision of procurement staff (both national and international), and will support the Procurement Manager and other members of the senior management team on the best use of Save the Children’s resources, supporting strategic planning, including development of the supply chain response plan, proposal development, and budgeting processes.

The role can include remote supervision and support to partners. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting lessons learned exercises, identification of best practise and lessons learned from each assignment to the Global Humanitarian supply chain lead to help improve future practice, adherence and enforcement of Procurement policies and procedures, capacity building and adherence to compliance (Save the Children and Donor). The post holder will also be support the SMT in minimising fraud risk, compliance with CSG and human trafficking policies and quality data management.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

Essential

  • Taken and passed the Save the Children procurement essentials training
  • Good prior NGO experience in Procurement systems, processes and supervision, within large scale country programmes and in emergency response/humanitarian environments
  • Experience in Procurement operations
  • Experience of implementing Procurement and sourcing strategies, and plans, and setting up Procurement operations to support multi sectoral programmes, and ensuring appropriate sourcing for the supply chain
  • Proven track-record in Procurement functions and supervising other junior supply chain staff, and providing training and capacity building
  • Ability to synthesise and analyse complex information, and make clear, informed decisions/recommendations
  • Experience of supporting others at Junior levels with Procurement aspects of a programme, including demand and storage planning, support the development of Procurement staffing structures.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a workload comprised of diverse tasks and responsibilities
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English and Turkish, with experience in working with multicultural teams

Position holders will be based in Hatay and Gaziantep, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
