Welthungerhilfe’s Head Office is in Bonn, Germany whilst the Syria Response is managed from our Country Office in Gaziantep. Welthungerhilfe was established in Turkey in 2013 specifically to help people who are affected by the Syria Crisis. Since then, the organisation has expanded its program scope and scale to make the greatest possible contribution to meeting humanitarian needs in Turkey and North West Syria. Welthungerhilfe has field offices in Azaz and Afrin, as well as Ankara, Istanbul, Hatay and Mardin. The Syria Response program includes food security, WASH services, Shelter and NFI services, protection, early recovery and livelihood.

Procurement Assistant*

in Afrin, Syria

The position is to be filled by March 15, 2022. There are good prospects for an extension. Duty Location will be Afrin, Syria.

Your responsibilities

• Prepare RFQ documents based on the requisitions
• Participate in bidding processes by soliciting bids/quotes from respective suppliers.
• Participate in Market assessment process.
• Evaluate offers from vendors and negotiate better prices
• Prepare Competitive Bid analyses
• Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders
• Maintain updated records of invoices and contracts
• Participate in Procurement committee meetings as non-voting member to provide all necessary information and answer committee’s quarries. Update internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts)
• Conducting field inspection in supplier’s location to check the quality of Items to be procured
• Maintains appropriate filing of procurement and shipping documents.

Your profile

Required Qualifications

• * Position is open to Syrian nationals only.
  • Education: A Diploma degree is a must. And/or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage.
  • Work Experience: Minimum one year or more of professional experience in a relevant position in Logistic Department in a non-profit organization.
  • Skills/knowledge:
  • Experience in market assessment and cash component.
  • Language Skills: Arabic and English are required.

Desired Qualifications

• * Other Skills/Knowledge:
  • Familiar with donor guidelines
  • Demonstrated technical related skills to deal with a myriad of tasks.
  • Good team player, flexible and capable of working with an international country team.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel and Database.
