Your Role:

The Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) is part of our Life Science Business and provides high quality scientific and technical support to our customers developing or manufacturing biopharmaceuticals. This Process Development Scientist (PDS) role will be part of a MSAT team mainly covering Germany (projects throughout EMEA may happen occasionally). You as an experienced and confident scientist will provide support at customer sites or virtually with screening and optimizing bioprocess technologies, typically in pre-clinical to clinical phase II development projects. Having a focus on projects reliant upon downstream purification technologies and applications in the biopharmaceutical industry for monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, plasma proteins, and vaccines, the scientist with an interest in commercial pharma process development and manufacturing partnering with local sales team will develop long-term relationships with clients through good science and influence the industry through authoring technical publications as well as contributing to industry conferences.

You are a highly motivated individual with collaborative and entrepreneur mindset and the ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual and dynamic environment. A flexible approach is essential along with strong organizational skills, high level of proactivity with the ability to complete short and longer-term projects.

The position is home-based in Germany. You will need to have the willingness to travel up to 50% of your year time within the EMEA regions as required.

Who you are:

  • MSc. or PhD in BioSciences related field
  • Strong technical communication skills (verbal and written) in English and German
  • Biopharma industrial experience and expertise in separation and purification technologies such as normal flow filtration (clarification, sterile and virus removal), tangential flow filtration and chromatography (> 4 years of experience advantageous) across all the different applications. Experience in CMC, Mechanistic modeling and/or advanced therapy medicinal products are appreciated.
  • Excellent management skills with respect to planning, executing and documenting experimental projects
  • Confidant on delivering oral presentations in front of customers and on relevant congresses/conferences
  • Comfortable in using new and emerging digital technologies, programming language knowledge advantagoeous (e.g. Python)
