Fidelity International
Title Tax Manager
Department Group Tax
Location London
Reports To Private Assets Tax Specialist
Level Manager
We are proud to have been helping our clients build better financial futures for over 50 years. How have we achieved this? By working together – and supporting each other – all over the world. So, join our tax team and feel like you’re part of something bigger.
About Your Team
Our tax team is based primarily in the UK with colleagues in Australia, India, Germany and Japan. We work collaboratively and encourage an environment where individuals feel empowered to contribute to a broad range of projects and develop a broad range of skills.
We are responsible for the management and governance of direct, indirect, and operational tax issues across all FIL group companies and products. We provide effective and proactive tax assistance to the business, support the development of solutions for our clients, and assist in influencing, interpreting, and implementing tax legislative changes.
About Your Role
We are looking for a Tax Manager to support our growing Private Assets business. This is a new role in a new business area for Fidelity, and we have ambitious growth plans across multiple asset classes. This is an advisory focussed role with strong technical and business exposure where you will be working with non-tax specialists on a regular basis and will be required to actively contribute to discussions and help drive the projects forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, with external advisor input where necessary, the tax work required for new product structuring and development. Contributions should not only be insightful but also practical
- Oversee and contribute to the tax due diligence and tax structuring on investment acquisitions, disposals, secondary transactions, underlying investment structures and strategies, and review of tax provisions of transaction documents
- Take an active interest in and monitor developments in the international tax landscape that impact the Private Assets business, and where relevant identify mitigants to adverse impacts and opportunities on positive developments
- Liaise with members of the broader tax team on direct and indirect tax issues. Recognise queries and issues that relate to corporate tax, transfer pricing or VAT, and connect promptly with the appropriate colleagues
- Answer, or assist in the handling of, investor queries related to the taxation of products. Achieve an appropriate balance between assisting investors’ understanding of the relevant tax issues, and providing tax advice that should more properly be provided by an investor’s own tax advisers – and foster that balance in the business teams
- Tax compliance and reporting will be undertaken by external service providers and overseen by the Private Asset Operations team. Provide oversight and specialist support where required
- Undertake all activity in line with the tax risk management policy to ensure a robust risk environment is maintained
About You
We encourage an environment of trust and collaboration, so you must be a team player. You will be empowered to contribute so an inquisitive and pro-active working style is also very important to us. You will have:
- Professional accounting qualification (CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent). Tax qualifications desired but not essential
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a professional setting (either within a professional services firm or in a financial services organisation)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of asset management sector with some experience of European private fund and SPV structures
- Experience reviewing tax provisions of LPAs, PPMs, side letters and transactional documents such as purchase and sale agreements
- An appreciation of the corporate tax, transfer pricing and VAT issues faced by a large fund management group
Feel rewarded
For starters, we’ll offer you a comprehensive benefits package. We’ll value your wellbeing and support your development. And we’ll be as flexible as we can about where and when you work – finding a balance that works for all of us.
