Summary Of Job Definition

Perform administrative and analytical functions relating to pricing. This includes maintenance of Pricing structure and records in the company ERP (SAP).

Partnering with the key functions within Smith + Nephew including Sales and Marketing, Corporate Accounts and Government Affairs, Service, Operations, Customer Service and Supply Chain to provide commercial advice and guidance to assist the business make informed decisions by;

  • Financial modelling for alternative financial solutions including ‘volume-based agreements’(VBA)
  • Financial modelling for rebate programs and supply agreements
  • Be a pricing and financial modelling subject matter expert in business-critical projects.
  • Ensuring all pricing structures and processes are in line with Internal Controls (MAP’s)

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Perform the following functions on behalf of the Company and in doing so, comply with the Code of Conduct and Business Principles, the employment agreement and all relevant Internal Controls (MAPs).

Pricing

  • Maintain pricing structure, records and commission in SAP in a manner which supports the needs of the ANZ business and is aligned with the relevant Local and Global internal policies, procedures and workflows, the quality manual and associated quality procedures.
  • Take the lead in providing accurate reporting and analysis of relevant Pricing metrics to support consistent and rational commercial decision-making with respect to Price setting for the relevant franchises
  • Perform continuous improvement of Pricing procedures and workflows via the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, work instructions and other appropriate documentation.
  • Manage Pricing related to the introduction of new products, changes to existing products and discontinuation of products via the PIC (Product Introduction and Change) and other relevant internal processes
  • Manage Pricing-related queries from customers and internal stakeholders (i.e. Sales and Marketing, Customer Services, Operations, Finance, Corporate Accounts Team etc.)
  • Support internal and external audit readiness
  • Support annual pricing reviews as required to identify opportunities for uplift/rationalisation

Pricing leadership for management of contracts and pricing agreements

  • Lead the development of the pricing aspects of responses to requests for tender or negotiation of new pricing agreements and support S&N relationship owners (i.e. Sales and Marketing functions, Corporate Accounts team, Channel Managers)
  • Maintenance of pricing for contracts and special pricing agreements – including liaising with internal relationship owners (i.e. Sales and Marketing functions, Corporate Accounts team, Channel Managers) to support reporting requirements, manage price changes, contract/agreement expiry, renewals and responding to queries from customers
  • Engage and partner with internal stakeholders to understand their overall strategy and business insights needs including current and pricing dynamics, product mix and margin analysis
  • Apply critical inputs considering any changing market dynamics including Government Policy, assessing impact and providing recommendations where appropriate
  • Develop financial models that inform and enable the business to make sound financial decisions and increase profitability
  • Prepare pricing and margin analysis models for each franchise clearly highlighting impact of strategy and approach

Systems Management

  • Support the integrity of the pricing structure and data in SAP in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders (i.e. Sales and Marketing, Customer Services, Operations, Finance, Corporate Accounts Team etc.) via data cleaning and active management of customer, item and material masters

General

  • Adhere to sound business principles and compliance requirements with all decisions made
  • Understand and at all times act in accordance with the Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) ‘Codes of Practice’, and all procedures and processes related to the code
  • Undertake all required training in relation to the S&N and MTAA/MTANZ Codes of Conduct
  • Comply with all the Company’s Policies.

Qualifications And Experience

EDUCATION/ TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Study in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven commercial experience in a Pricing role (preferred)
  • Previous experience within SAP with a solid understanding of SAP structure and functionality (minimum of 1 years preferred)
  • Proven ability to use Microsoft Excel and business intelligence tools (Cognos or similar) to an advanced level.

  • SAP Pricing/SD knowledge and inter-relationship preferred.
  • Proven experience generating analyses using Business Intelligence tools (Business Objects or similar)

Desirable

  • Solid understanding of the Australia/New Zealand public and private healthcare systems or related industry
