Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated Pricing Actuary to join our actuarial team. The selected candidate will be based in Zurich and be part of a dynamic team of five actuaries supporting the profit centre in all questions related to Reserving, Pricing, Planning and Solvency II. This position reports into Berkley Europe Head of Pricing. Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Work in close cooperation with the Head of Pricing to implement our pricing strategy. This includes the implementation of a new and modern pricing solution fit to face the challenges of the future
  • Work in close cooperation with the underwriters to develop a profitable portfolio and support them in the pricing of individual accounts on a case by case basis
  • Take ownership on selected lines and perform tasks such as tariff review, development, documentation and maintenance of pricing models, profitability analysis of specific segments and reinsurance pricing
  • Reporting tasks such as rate movement reports
  • Provide actuarial support for the business planning process.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as non-life pricing actuary
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to propose pragmatic and innovation solutions to complex problems
  • IT Skills: Excel, SQL and one statistical programming language (Python/R) would be a plus
  • Good understanding of the non-life insurance business
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to convince and influence others and the gravitas to operate at all levels in an organization
  • Self-reliance – to plan, implement and work either on their own or in a team and deliver a multitude of tasks to a timescale
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment and ability to work within and promote a diverse and inclusive culture
