UNHCR, is offering a full-time position within the Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Section in our Copenhagen office.

The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCR’s Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for forging shared value partnerships and mobilizing resources for refugees from the private sector.

UNHCR has developed a Private Sector Fundraising Strategy 2018-2025 and as part of this strategy, PSP’s Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) Section develops and strengthens long-term partnerships with companies, foundations and private philanthropists including in the area of sport.

As part of a wider team, the primary role of this function is to support the further development and growth of UNHCR’s sports partnerships around the world including direct support for UNHCR’s most recent partnership with FC Barcelona.

Organisational context

The PPH officer will be located in Copenhagen. Denmark in UNHCR’s headquarters for private Sector Partnerships. The incumbent will be part of the corporate and shared value partnerships team, in particular, its part working developing new business and support. (co-managing Hybrid-Accounts, supporting the network of fundraisers and regions and develop a corporate capacity building framework and initiatives)

UNHCR has witnessed increasing support for the cause of the forcibly displaced, of particular note is the support from sport actors. This includes financial contributions from sport related companies and clubs, pledges by global organizations. Most recently UNHCR renewed a collaboration with FC Barcelona through Espana con ACNUR (EcA) the National Association Partner of UNHCR based in Spain.

The position

UNHCR is looking for a dynamic team player to help UNHCR act on the above new opportunities in support of the forcibly displaced.

This PPH Officer will move this work forward in collaboration with relevant internal units and subject matter experts. The PPH Officer will act as the focal point within PSP for the relationship with FC Barcelona supporting the work of EcA and act as a support and fundraising function on further sport partnerships with the private sector developed by the PPH network.

The selected candidate will work as a Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer with UNHCR in accordance with the organization’s contribution management system.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work as a Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer with UNHCR in accordance with the organization’s contribution management system.
  • Work within the private partnerships and philanthropy team on establishing and growing sports partnerships
  • Support regions and markets with their sports partnerships, development of partnering plans, pipelines, cultivation and stewardship
  • Offer best in class stewardship to directly managed accounts within the sport partnerships for UNHCR.
  • Act as the UNHCR HQ focal point for the FC Barcelona partnership
  • Work with PSP Partnership Support Unit, Regional Bureaux, Operations on identifying, proposing, implementing and reporting on programmatic support from sports partners
  • Work with PSP and wider UNHCR Communication teams as well as external communication actors to support UNHCR’s sports partnerships

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Advanced university degree in law, business, international relations, communications, public administration or related field
  • At least six years’ experience in fundraising and communications with increasing level of responsibility

Desirable Competencies

  • Experience within the United Nations system
  • Experience within the humanitarian sector, programme, etc.

Location

The successful candidate will be based with the team in Copenhagen, Denmark

Conditions

It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
