Postdoc SARS-CoV-2 Cellular Immunity

Barcelona Institute for Global Health

The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in three main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Child and Maternal Health, and Urban Health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry. The ISGlobal Postdoctoral Programme involves complementary training and professional development. This includes access to the PRBB Intervals Programme (leadership, innovation, communication and good scientific practices), internal training activities, funds for external training, ISGlobal seminars and other PRBB and Hospital Clínic seminars.

What we are looking for

ISGlobal is seeking a Postdoc candidate who is interested in cellular immune responses induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 vaccines. The overall project goal is to identify immune cell mechanisms of COVID-19 immunity, disease susceptibility and long-COVID applying state-of-the art immunological techniques. The candidate will participate in different funded COVID-19 projects.

Team

The Immunology Group directed by the Research Professor Carlota Dobaño and the Assistant Research Professor Gemma Moncunill coordinates several longitudinal studies on SARS-CoV-2 immunity, disease progression and long-COVID in Spain and Africa. The team uses multi-omics approaches in combination with state-of the art immunological techniques and systems biology analyses to decode the immune responses that determine infection, disease and vaccine outcomes to develop more effective vaccines and immunotherapies.

The research is performed in collaboration with different national and international groups and in a multidisciplinary and translational environment.
