What We Are Looking for

We are recruiting an enthusiastic, self-motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our dynamic team in the Urban Environment and Air Pollution research programme. The researcher will join an international team of researchers and stakeholders in the Climate Action To Advance Healthy Societies in Europe (CATALYSE) project funded by HORIZON Europe (GA 101057131). The researcher will be based in the research group of Cathryn Tonne, Associate Research Professor and coordinator of CATALYSE.

Training and experience /Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent) in epidemiology, environmental health, biostatistics or related discipline
  • Demonstrated record of scientific achievement in epidemiology or environmental health; experience with health co-benefits of climate change mitigation is an asset
  • Experience with statistical analysis and managing complex data in R
  • Excellent quantitative and programming skills
  • Motivated, self-directed researcher capable of setting and meeting deadlines and delivering research outputs
  • Strong organization and team-working skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include contributing to an integrated indicator framework to track climate change adaptation and mitigation on health; conducting research to develop and validate novel indicators to track the health co-benefits of climate change mitigation; and liaising with the Lancet Countdown for Health and Climate Change in Europe.

Specific Duties

  • Coordinating large health and environmental exposure databases
  • Conducting statistical analyses
  • Drafting original articles for publication in high impact journals
  • Disseminating findings at conferences, workshops, scientific journals, and other channels

During the crisis caused by COVID19, standard working conditions will be adapted to sanitary requirements.

Selection Process

The selection process is designed in two phases: 1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person’s skills and CV. 2 – Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
