Job overview

We seek a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to an innovative project exploring the multifaceted dimensions of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) while integrating gender perspectives. Through the One Health lens, the Project will bring evidence of how gender dynamics intersect with AMR transmission and antibiotic practices, promoting inclusive and gender-responsive approaches to combat AMR threats effectively. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing gender-responsive research within the AMR project while actively contributing to broader institutional gender initiatives that contribute to a holistic approach to gender equality and inclusion beyond the scope of research.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to conduct innovative research, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to developing impactful outputs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Research Design and Execution
  • Develop and execute research plans within the scope of the gender-related study
  • Plans and conducts day-to-day experimental activities relating to assigned research projects
  • Design methodologies that align with project objectives, ensuring rigour and relevance
  • Oversee data mining, collection, analysis, synthesis, visualization and presentation utilizing advanced research methods
  • Employ advanced qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques to derive meaningful insights
  • Interpret research findings and contribute to the development of scholarly publications

2. Literature Review and Conceptual Development

  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to inform study design and research questions
  • Contribute to the conceptual development of the gender-related study, integrating appropriate theories and methodologies

3. Publication and Presentation

  • Lead the development of research papers for submission to peer-reviewed high-impact journals
  • Disseminate research findings at conferences, workshops, and other relevant forums4.

4. Mentorship and Training

  • Support capacity building through provision of mentorship and support to junior researchers, graduate students, and research assistants involved in the Project
  • Actively participate in scholarly engagements through development of seminars and journal clubs

5. Grant Writing

  • Contribute to the development of grant proposals to secure funding for continued research

6. Collaboration and Networking

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative research environment
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams to enhance the scope and impact of the study
  • Establish and maintain professional networks with other researchers and institutions in gender studies

Competency Criteria

Education

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as Gender Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, or a related discipline focusing on gender-related research.

Experience

  • Proven experience in conducting independent gender-related research
  • Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Familiarity with intersectionality and an understanding of diverse gender experiences
  • Track record of publications in reputable journals within the field of gender-related research
  • Experience in grant writing and securing research funding is advantageous
