**Policy and Advocacy Manager (Resilience & Health) Location: London (hybrid role working between home and office) Contract type: Permanent Hours per week: 35 Salary: £43,000 to £47,500 per annum (inclusive of Inner London Weighting allowance)

About this Opportunity**

As Policy and Advocacy Manager you will join the Policy, Research and Advocacy department and help secure policy change that has a demonstrable impact on people’s lives and makes a significant contribution to furthering our advocacy priorities and delivering our organisational strategy.

In this brand-new position you w ill lead the team who design and deliver policy and advocacy strategies by identifying research gaps, developing an evidence base, creating policy recommendations and undertaking activities to build support for change. The team focus on policy to address health inequalities and how we can improve the support people and communities receive to prepare for and recover from emergencies.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation, including public affairs, research, operational services and media, to deliver a programme of innovative and impactful policy development and influencing activity that is informed by the lived experiences of the people we support.

You will represent the organisation externally, develop and maintain effective external relationships and oversee the development of engagement plans to allow us to influence as effectively as possible across the UK, identifying key stakeholders in government, the NHS and ally organisations.

This role may be for you if have…

  • Significant experience/knowledge of strategic policy design and development, ideally within the areas of resilience/emergency response and / or health & social care.
  • Experience of designing and delivering impactful engagement and influencing plans/strategies.
  • Experience of building impactful relationships with external stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Ability to lead and develop a team and build relationships with staff members, at all levels
  • Experience of successfully managing a number of different projects at any given time, completing them to a high level of quality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, for a variety of audiences
  • Experience of providing strategic and tactical advice, including to senior management

Meet the team

The role of Policy and Advocacy Manager sits within the strategy and communications directorate which tells the stories about who we are, what we do, what we believe, and the difference we make to people’s lives – so that both externally and internally people act, behave, or make decisions in a way that results in a positive change for people in crisis.

The department aims to develop and lead on strategic advocacy priorities rooted in our UK work (the refugee and asylum system, health and social care, loneliness and social isolation, crisis response and community resilience), and working closely with our Humanitarian Policy team on our International work.
