CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Policy & Advocacy Intern will support the Communications & Advocay team with ongoing tasks & activities. The position holder will provide support to the advocacy and communications team in Advocacy, Policy, and Content/Campaign development and coordination for the ongoing and upcoming projects.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  1. Support the Advocacy and Communications team to rollout operational work plan of project-based Advocacy & Campaigns deliverables, which includes a detailed timeline of activities.
  2. Work jointly with Advocacy & Communications team to organize and implement Campaign and Advocacy initiatives, communications and events.
  3. Support the team in ensuring that Save the Children information and visbility material is appropriately displayed at advocacy events.
  4. Support Director Policy, Advocacy, Communications & Government Liaison in external correspondences and matters related to Government Liaison.
  5. Plan & organise departmental meetings. Record and disseminate meeting minutes.
  6. Conduct research work and prepare write-ups, briefs & reports, as & when needed.
  7. Provide support to Advocacy & Communications team in the ongoing projects and activities, as & when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Area of interest in Public Policy, Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences or a relevant area of study.
  • Enrolled in Undergraduate or Post Graduate programs, or has Undergraduate university degree in Public Policy, Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences or a related relevant field.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Essential: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, good computer skills (MS Office), fluency in English and Urdu, good organization and coordination skills.
  • Desirable: Well informed about the communications & branding aspects and has previous experience working for a non-for-profit or government agency.
